i was listening to my favorinte game under podcast today.

In it, I talk abuot a game I have NO MEMORY OF ACTUALLY PLAYING. In fact, if any one had bet me a thousand dollars on my testimony of having played this game I would have doubled down (and lost).

Have you guys ever had a failure of memory about a game (or anything) like this?

... keep in mind my story about waking up twice and not only knowing not what country or room I was in, but actually lacking an identity at all, which I attribute to my bi-nationality and house made up for two buildings.

Oh yeah. Primarily with sub-par RPGs. For instance there was a SNES game called Lagoon that sat on my shelf for years. I know I played it. I remember going out and buying it, and coming home and turning it on. I could not tell you a single detail about the game other than the main character had blonde hair (and now that I look at screenshots, it would appear I'm wrong about his hair so I officially remember nothing about the game). No idea about the story, gameplay, or even really the graphics now. You could put it in front of me with another name, and I'm confident I'd have no idea that I had played it.

A new podcast from SegaNerds contains an interview with Sonic Boom: Rise of Lyric producer Stephen Frost. You can listen to it in full here, though Sonic Stadium has rounded up some of the more interesting bits.

Frost touched on Sonic Boom’s development, and a few other topics as well. Here’s the full summary:

I'm thinking its a joke.

But then again, this has been the way with the Japanese games scene over the past 10 years.

Yeah I don't see the problem either. That article about this move haunting Nintendo to the grave got a good chuckle out of me. How is it a bad thing toss people some simple fun games as a teaser for their REAL shit?

I guess the fear is that they may make such a honking huge, disproportionate (compared to budget) amount of money from some crappy mobile game - that it makes them look at the hardcore games which cost more to make and take more time and effort and think, what's the point?

Nintendo raising the standard of mobile games will be pretty cool, but I hope any and all of these games are on the 3DS shop, or Wii U shop too.

Animal Crossing mobile though... it could make billions. Think about fleecing mobile buyers for furniture sets or items?

This is where I agree with Wired.  Nintendo is an old company with a lot of bureaucracy and very slow to adapt.  This is not something we'll see happening in one or two generations down the line.  But say in 10 years or longer, who knows?  The fact that they're entering the mobile market proves that Nintendo can't withstand pressure from investors for ever.  And investors only care for profit.  If mobile starts bringing in a lot more money than dedicated consoles, that's where they'll want the company to focus on.

Like I said before, the only way Nintendo can do this without endangering their IP's or way of business if they view mobile as a form of advertisement and steer clear from the F2P model.  Doing this will either result in them having to pump a lot of money into mobile as they won't make al ot of it back, or they'll force a paradigm shift on the mobile gaming business as devs see that people are willing to pay a (for mobile) premium one-time fee for quality games.

GameSpot: Kojima to leave Konami after MGSV, power struggle, communications embargo

A fallout between Kojima Productions and its owning publisher, Konami, has led to senior staff at the studio being restricted access to corporate internet, emails, and phone, GameSpot understands.

Along with the restricted communications, key developers at the studio, such as Hideo Kojima, will now have limited opportunities to lend their appearance to promotions of the studio’s upcoming game, Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Power struggles between Kojima Productions and Konami have led the publisher to make drastic changes, including the employee status of its Metal Gear team. Some senior staff at the studio, including Kojima, now essentially work as contractors, not permanent employees.

The extraordinary measures were revealed by a source within the studio, speaking to GameSpot on the condition of anonymity. The person explained that, once the Phantom Pain project is finished, in all likelihood the management at the studio will disband.

"After we finish MGSV, Mr. Kojima and upper management will leave Konami. They said their contract ends in December," the source claimed.

The person added: "At a team meeting, Mr Kojima explained that team have to be one and make a good game for fans."

Mons douche!!!

Um.....wow.

Goodbye Konami. Without Kojima they aren't shit. No Kojima, no team silent. DONE. They are cooked more than Capcom without Mikami or Square without Sakaguchi.

There is something seriously wrong with the way game companies in Japan operate. When they have almost ALL chased away their top talent aka the guys that make them money, obviously a structure change is needed.

And what of Silent Hills? That game is going to fall to pieces without Kojima.

Holy flurking snit!!!!!

What is happening?!?!?!? NOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Konami is killing themselves, with kojima they have nothing, wtf is going on. Why are Japanese companies minus nintendo so stupid, why are they chasing away all the good developers.

Well this forces kojima to move on from metal gear. Omg what happens to silent hills?!?!?! Noooooooo.

nintendo is the last Japanese developer still making consistently great games. Capcom, Sega, konami, Namco, square, our entire youth is practically gone.

I can't believe this. What a horrible day this has become.
