Indeed. REmake sold 1.5 million on Gamecube in 2002 and that was such a failure it caused them to believe RE fans just don't want quality games anymore.

Playing Resident Evil 5 directly after RE4 makes me really appreciate the quality of this game. I was completely wrong about it. Its not an 8.5 game at all....its a 7.8 game.

The basic shell is RE4 all day, no doubt there. But its like an empty shell. Like a clone with no soul.
RE4 was a game where you could FEEL the magic. FEEL that it was a labor of love.
RE5 is a game that feels FORCED to be a certain way.
We HAVE to copy the Re4 blueprint because we have no idea what to do otherwise. We HAVE to force in co-op game play because online is all the rage.

My most major gripe is still Sheva. Either suck my dick or get out of the fucking way.
She wastes ammo. She shoots you in the back in battle. And she constantly blocks your view by being too close. Oh, and you constantly have to heal her because she's retarded & can't stay out of danger.
Yeah this is so much better than just going solo...

And they also really should have put another merchant in this game. That guy was an awesome part of RE4. But in RE5 just magically buying new weapons in between levels? Stupid. No typewriter is also stupid. Franchise trademarks should not be removed.
