Awesome to hear that Divinity: Original Sin is coming to consoles. I play the hell out of the Baldur's Gate games, will certainly get this game.
Yeah there's some pretty awesome deals on PSN this weekend. Even though I have some of those games on the 360 already I'm very tempted to get them on the PS3 as well just because, Mass Effect trilogy I'm looking at you.
I just don't "Get" the concepts of Aggro and Heat and stuff; I just let everyone target Reyn and pick them off with Shulk, let Sharla heal... I'm going to have to play more, try to use them all individually and see how they differ. I wasn't "playing" the game "wrong" as much as they "marketed" it wrong to "me." Now I'm starting to get it. Xeno is simple to play in execution, but has a lot of variable to consider. I've played games with harder battle systems, but they were single player RPG's basically. It's just in the way Xeno was presented. I love the game, but didn't get it at first. You have excellent taste Iga, and I am impressed you played it from beginning to end in the way you did; now I hope to do the same.
That artwork is incredible. Brings back many great memories from the "Golden Age." Thanks for posting that, I may have to look into getting some of those.
Oculus has announced its recommended specifications for the consumer version of its virtual reality headset.
Here's what you need for "the full Rift experience", Oculus said:
Nvidia GTX 970 / AMD 290 equivalent or greater
Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
8GB+ RAM
Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
2x USB 3.0 ports
Windows 7 SP1 or newer
"The goal is for all Rift games and applications to deliver a great experience on this configuration," Oculus said.
The consumer Oculus Rift, due out Q1 2016.
"Ultimately, we believe this will be fundamental to VR's success, as developers can optimise and tune their game for a known specification, consistently achieving presence and simplifying development.
"All of the games and applications for the Rift created by Oculus will provide an incredible experience on this system."
In a blog post, Atman Binstock, Oculus chief architect, expanded on the news, saying the configuration announced today will be held for the lifetime of the Rift and should drop in price over time, meaning more people will have systems capable of running the headset.
The Rift runs at a 2160x1200 resolution at 90Hz split over dual displays. This consumes 233m pixels per second, Binstock said. But at the default eye-target scale, the Rift's rendering requirements go to around 400m shaded pixels per second.
"This means that by raw rendering costs alone, a VR game will require approximately 3x the GPU power of 1080p rendering," he said.
Unfortunately, it looks like Rift won't work with laptops - for now.
"Many discrete GPU laptops have their external video output connected to the integrated GPU and drive the external output via hardware and software mechanisms that can't support the Rift," Binstock explained.
"Since this isn't something that can be determined by reading the specs of a laptop, we are working on how to identify the right systems. Note that almost no current laptops have the GPU performance for the recommended spec, though upcoming mobile GPUs may be able to support this level of performance."
Meanwhile, Binstock said development for OS X and Linux had been paused in order for Oculus to focus on a launch on Windows. "We want to get back to development for OS X and Linux but we don't have a timeline," he added.
Oculus Rift launches during the first quarter of 2016. A price has yet to be announced.
How are consoles going to get 3x the power of 1080p rendering to run this shit?
And what caught my ear is that the amiibos just allow you to select single player challenges you've already done. So presumably you play through the single player in order like a normal campaign and all the amiibos allow you to do - is effectively a level select?
So I guess we don't have to worry about Amiibos being used to finish the game or locking content or anything. It's the same stuff already in and availible in the game already to anyone who owns it. They also say the single player is about 7 hrs and not too easy or hard. There is lots of SP footage in the video BTW.

I especially love the Phantasy Star one, but don't quite get the Shinobi one.

Not locking content? They've locked out level select!
Yeah but that's nothing they haven't already done before

I don't want to pay an extra $13 for level select.
Iwata: NX is not a replacement for Wii U or 3DS "the new NX should not simply be considered as a replacement for its current machines."
Such awesomeness:
Then what the hell is it?
7 hours for splatoon campaign... Hmm I don't know.
Plus, what would be the fourth pillar? Amiibos? Mobile? It's probably a home console/handheld hybrid. Wii U type controller with DS cartridge slots.
