Eurogamer Rainbow Six Siege review
"Ubisoft seems torn between a typical big-budget release and a more focussed multiplayer shooter, and the rift often shows"eurogamer.net impressions gamingeek
What you are describing is lame, you can already use your fricking 3DS to control a Wii U game. And you'll probably be able to use the Wii U controller on NX too.
Might as well have a powerful console, a normal controller and have the mobile unit docked for more GPU, RAM and CPU power.
What I am describing makes bussiness sense. What benefit does it bring to have a system that scales in GPU and CPU power? None for devs, none for consumers, none for Nintendo. It'll just overcomplicate stuff to the point where it would make PS3 development seem like a walk in the park. And then I'm not touching on if what you describe is actually technologically feasible. You're completely ignoring stuff like bus speeds. Why do consoles use SOC? because it allows for fast data transfer between the different components. Optimization is all about moving data around efficiently. You can't possibly believe that you can just link 2 smartphones to eachother over a wifi signal and all of a sudden they're able to play The Witcher 3 on ultra settings. It's science fiction.
What I'm describing is something that can be easily achieved with existing technology, stays the course set by Iwata, and will crosspollinate between Nintendo's successfull portable branch and less successfull home console branch, without risking canibalizing one or the other. It's a perfect fit for Nintendo's way of doing business.

No meaningfull expansion hardware has ever been released for a Nintendo console, the extra Ram pack for the N64 excluded.
I hate posts like this that say one thing, whilst quickly excluding something that immediately contradicts their statement.
I don't know if the supplemental device will be a handheld or not, the patent does not mention the word handheld in it anywhere.
Gamecube had the GBA Player BTW and it was cool shit. N64 had the DD. It wouldn't fragment the market if it offered enhancements, not as an option that excluded people. Like a PC game that can run on a low spec PC and a High spec one, it still runs. Most people wouldn't get multiple units but there would always be some crazy sucker who makes headlines daisy chaining up multiple units.
And if NX does launch mid-cycle then it's going to need a way to power up once their competitors launch during NXs mid-cycle.
The GBA player doesn't count as it was a perhiperal, not a hardware expansion. The DD might count. Was it just a means to access a different form of writable/readable storage, or did it actually beef up the console as well?
If Nintendo goes the PC route with this they're doomed. PC gamers are pc enthusiasts willing to invest in their system and to put up with all kinds of crap. Nintendo's demographic is the exact opposite. Also, there is no mid-cycle anymore, the 'cycle' was thrown out the window one or 2 gens back.
Shit's confusing with that NX information. If Nintendo goes the convoluted route I hope they're ready to once again scrape off a living out of their dedicated fanbase and enthusiasts, because I don't see how dumb Joe Sixpack is going to lap that shit up.
Then again, maybe they are comfortable enough with that. They can be profitable without ever achieving a runaway success again.
Are you still bitter about when he fucked your woman? Of course he's not going to admit that. A man's gonna be a man.
I'm bitter about the time he said he had Perfect Dark 2 in his bag at E3 one year but felt he didn't need to show it because Gamecube already had so much to see...but rest assured its almost ready! The rest is history.
So this may be the first time I have ever played 3 long ass games back to back. Dragon Age 3, put 100 hours into that. Fallout 4, put 80 hours into that. Now I'm on to Xenoblade 2. In fact I've played quite a few long RPG's this year. If I had stuck to the shorter games that I was playing at the start of 2015 I probably would have finished twice as many games as I did this year.
This is something I never would have been able to do when I was younger. I remember playing the Final Fantasy stuff on PS1 and NEEDING to take a break from gaming after they were done. Then I would have to play a short game right after.

Maybe games are easier to play, better paced, less punitive and more consistently entertaining, than old games?

Same here, also too many multiplayer games. I rented uncharted collection so I quickly played uncharted 2, it's heaven. So nice and short.
When I rented the Uncharted Collection, I was given a free rental so I checked out Tony Hawk 5. The gameplay seems about the same as former games so there can be a lot of fun here. The graphics are just as horrible as we thought. PS2 quality with major lack of textures and and bad pop up. Everything just looks half baked. You'll skate by a bare wall and all of a sudden graffiti appears beside you. I might would pick this up for $10 just for the fun factor.

This just in... Trauma Team is still as badass as ever.

They're easier. Yes. More entertaining? No. The entertainment value of FF 7 & 8 has hardly been matched by any modern games for me.
These are the 8 PS2 games available on PS4 today:
Maybe Rogue Galaxy and The Mark of Kri for me.
Anyone else partaking?
Mark of Kri would be the only one that I'm interested in.
Mark of Kri is something I'd like to try some day though.
Panel Times for Playstation Experience 2015 for today.
