How did you play it? PC?
Star fox guard!!!!!! I am hooked! This is awesome! I hate tower defense games but this isn't some stupid thing where you spend money on upgrades and watch everything be automatic. This is a super fast arcade game of non stop action. It's super deep too with tons of levels and progression. Miyamoto you bastard, you ruined star fox with the stupid pad but made this gem. Now I wonder if that robot game would have been great.
Yeah the toybox demo....its so awesome. If you liked Rare in the N64 days this is vintage stuff. From the game play to the art to the music.
I'm sure I'll love Yooka-Laylee, but I wish they had clothed the main characters. they just look so plain.
On related topic, what did you think of Ratchet and Clank on PS4?
Reggie Fils-Aime on Why the Wii U Was Misunderstood
Without reading the crap that spouts from Reggie's gap, I'd say it was misunderstood because
Have yet to play it. But it looks great.
Who here plays shooters with a controller? And if you do so, do you invert the Y-axis or not? I only play FPS's once in a couple of years and keep forgetting which one I prefer. For flight and space sims, it's definitely inverted, but for shooters I can't seem to settle on inverted or not. It both feels wrong to me.
If I play a shooter I can't have the controls inverted because those usually force the player to move and think quick if someone is shooting at you and if I play with inverted controls I end up forgetting about the inverted controls.
Also for racing games I have to have the camera positioned on the front of the car or in rare cases cockpit view.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
I play most games with a controller, but there are a few PC-centric shooters that feel much better with KB/Mouse. Mostly the older FPS that were really designed around the KBM setup, like Unreal, Doom, even the first Crysis.
I invert my controls....always have and I guess I'm just used to it. There's something that just feels more cerebral and intense holding a controller versus using KBM that I prefer. I used to love using the big XBOX Duke controller for shooters back in the day just because it was so big it made it seem as if you really had a weapon in hand. That's really the only style of game I liked that pad for.
Fuck mouse, controller all the time. And yes I invert, makes no sense to change the way you aim just because the HUD is a cockpit or a helmet.
I usually invert, but honestly, it can depend on the game. For some games, it just feels natural to not invert.
Ubisoft says they have 'other surprises' to announce for NX gamesindustry.biz news
Like actually making games for it other than Just Dance? That'd be a surprise allright.
I liked the demo but didn't play more than the two stages. I really liked it but I was concerned it would be too simple if those two levels were representitive. So you are saying it's deeper? Damn, the Zero x Guard bundle has shot up in price here.
Pets, other junk most likely.
So regarding the potential NX battery life and performance, GAFFers are bringing up this device called the GPD XD:
it's not just "more powerful" than Vita. GPD XD has quad core ARM A17 CPU clocked over 1.4 GHz + quad core Mali T760 clocked over 500MHz working with 2GB of RAM. PS Vita meanwhile has much older quad core ARM A9 CPU capped at 444 MHz + quad core PowerVR SGX543 MP4+ capped to 222 MHz working with less than 700MB of RAM. GPD XD simply destroys the Vita. Shits on it from the sky.
But GPD still manages great battery life compared to Vita because Vita's SoC is 40nm while the Rockchip in the GPD XD is 28nm. Not helping Vita is the fact that the battery in the Vita is only 2200 mAH while the GPD XD has 6000 mAH monster.
Bar to beat for NX is definitely the GPD XD.
--------------------
The reason I am so excited for the potential hybrid NX is because I already own something kind of similar to it. KIND OF. It's a little obscure, but it's been talked about here on GAF. The device is called the GPD XD. It's basically a handheld android device shoved into a 3DS XL. It primarily used for emulation, but the GPU is also very robust. It's NOT top of the line, but it's runs almost anything I throw at it. I only paid $150 for it for 32GB of internal memory.
Specs: ARM A17 CPU @1.4 GHz, quad core Mali T760 clocked over 500MHz and 2GB of RAM. The battery is 6000mAH and can last around 6 hours with very intense games.
It runs Epic Citadel @ 720p with an average frame rate of 55fps.
Actual game performance looks like this.
Before you start telling me how unimpressive this looks, keep in mind the screen is 5 inches. When played on the native screen, there is no aliasing. The blemishes are more noticeable when viewed on a monitor. This thing slaughters the VITA in every way imaginable. The FPS game is pretty much a console FPS game on handheld. Whether you think it is well made is another matter, but could easily pass for a game from last generation. Same with the Chinese MOBA in the image.
This device has maybe a mid-range mobile GPU. Think about what a Tegra X1 can offer. We keep posting the Digital Foundry and talking about Doom 3 port, but I haven't seen anyone post pics of what a game designed for the X1 would look like. I imagine it's even more impressive than what I posted. Does anyone know any android games made specifically for the X1?

NX could be using this. Basically XB1 power but Nvidia flops are usually better than AMD ones GAF seems to agree.
EDIT: actually that is still a maxwell based chip, while nx should be pascal based. So it will be more advanced than this.
I always play with a controller and for FPS games it's always non-inverted. For flight games I generally play inverted.
Much deeper, the first two levels are basic crap.
