Also finished Castlevania Curse of Darkness which I tried to play and finish many times over the years and due to a special mod I was able to get through it, still not that good, one of the worst CV games to me.

that is the one Castlevania game I think I've never touched. After Lament of Innocence, I was pretty convinced the world was not ready for 3D Castlevania games, and I don't think I ever heard a genuinely good word about Curse of Darkness. Sounds like I did not miss out on anything.

This weekend has been all about Monster Hunter Wilds for me. Enjoying it very much. Also watched WWE Elimination Chamber which was quite good with a very big surprise in it. Never thought I’d see the day.

This weekend I've taken on the punishing Donkey Kong Country Returns. Going to stop for tonight after dying over eighty times on one level.

Damn. Totally did forget that. Time to hand in my wrestling fan club card and hide in shame.

I revoke everything on Veilguard. A late boss battle is a historically terrible one and the narrative choices are brutal. Kinda spoils the whole thing. If it wasn't so close to the end I'd just quit even after slogging through the fight.

I just looked that up. I have to watch WWE one day just to see what it's about. Gaming people of the era we are have almost 100% cross over ven diagrams.  Personally I've never seen a single minute of profesional wrestling. I read a LONG book about it and everything I know about it comes from conversations of gamers crossing over into the topic.

This is the book I read:
Is Wrestling Fixed? I Didn't Know It Was Broken!: From Photo Shoots and Sensational Stories to the WWE Network ― My Incredible Pro Wrestling Journey! and Beyond ...: Apter, Bill, Lawler, Jerry "The King": 9781770411548: Amazon.com: Books

I played the original 3 SNES games, have not been attracted to the newer ones at all. I did enjoy Princess Peach last year on Switch which makes me think the non-mario platformers are worth a go?

But they have to be good for my 7 year old as well, and from what you guys are saying about Returns, that's looking like NO DEAL.

Mick Foley has written two fantastic books about his career.

How do you guys describe gaming generations?

In regards to saying something like: the PS2 generation, or the 360 generation?

I've flip flopped over the years between picking the one with the most sales or the one I enjoyed the most.

I tend to remember periods of my life based on gaming generations. Like, oh that was the N64 generation when I was at school etc

Did you guys see the new 2D Terminator game? Looks epic.

I was thinking the other day I'd like to see more old movies made into 2D games like we used to get on SNES and Genesis.

Sackboy: A Big Adventure is really good so far. I've played though about five levels so far, and I'm enjoying it. The camera perspective is similar to Super Mario 3D World's. The visuals on PS5 are stunning, making me wish Switch 2 games would look this detailed. It isn't all difficult so far, similar difficulty to most Yoshi and Kirby games;  hopefully, it'll ramp up a bit more later on.

My PS5 purchase came with both the PS5 and PS4 versions, so I'm trying to get my sister to give it a go. She's not good at most platfomers, so this might be a good fit for her.

He's actually written a couple more. Either three or four I think. I stopped at the third one though. Mick's first book is amazing and I heartily recommend it to anyone whether you've watched a second of wrestling or not. It's a very feel-good story of personal and professional triumph.

The follow-up books, while not bad, just don't have the same amount of subject matter for him to write about. That first book is the first 20 years of his career, focusing mainly on the climb. When the most interesting and bizarre things that could happen to a person happen to him. The next ones cover just a couple years each, when he wasn't doing quite as many stupid things to his body to achieve his goals.

And just to brag a little bit, I have an autographed copy of his first book. It is one of my treasures.

My weekend was spent streaming a little more Epic Yarn and Return to Dreamland, while squeezing in just a little Rondo of Blood.

Rondo is definitely tough. To the game's credit though, there's a lot of secrets to find in it, but they really make you work for them. This was definitely the toughest game in the series.

Also Return to Dreamland gets a lot harder than I remember it. I'm at the second to last world, and damn... The levels get tough, but some of these mini boss fights are downright nasty. Also, one of the later levels is called Nutty Noon. For the life of me, I can't figure out the logic in using that name, but I'll be damned if we all didn't laugh our asses off when I arrived there.
