Sorry, didn't mean to tease. I had more than satiating GAF on my schedule.
The article on Red Steel 2 is mainly a 7-8 page interview with 9 screen shots and about the same of concept art. Half is a preview describing a series reboot and the other half is an interview with the Art Director (Stephane Bachelet), Lead Game Designer (Roman Campos Oriola) and Creative Director (Jason Vanderberghe). They have the game running at 60fps, the game is set in the fictional dester town of Caldera described as Tokyo meets Reno. The basically rebooted when they saw Motion Plus and decided to go a different direction with the game.
Punch Out received an 8.5/10
next month: No teases or sly hints about next month's cover game, because we know how long many of you have been waiting for our big story on Kingdom Hearts 385/2 Days for DS. We'll also reveal a couple of cool Wii surprises and review big-name games like The Conduit and Indiana Jonesand the Staff of Kings-all in just 30 short days!
Black sigil: 5.0
jake hunter 6.0
up 6.5
magician's quest 7.5
core 5.5
help wanted 4.5
FYI subscriber cover art is pretty neat, like the newstand but no text except for the band at the bottom with issue # and address label
The article is fairly general and focused on the change in setting and what not, there is a lot of "we can't talk about that yet". I also haven't sat down and read it yet, just skimming.
-1st person, cell shaded, like I said, similar to XIII,
-going for teen rating so, "The gore just doesn't fit for us and what we're trying to do"
-No multiplayer
-exclusively Wii Motion Plus
-talk of dual wielding Gun and sword but nothing definitive
No, but they had......
and...
Wait. You LIKE it now?
I need to see this trailer.
That had better not be some YouTube Poop. That shit is stupid.
That fat guy looks so cool. I want a whole game based around him. And exclusive PSP soul calibur? Wow, Sony is going all out for exclusives. Nice to give Nintendo a good kick in the groin DS-wise.
How do you do a steampunk western? What is Steampunk exactly? I thought Steamboy was Steampunk and that cloud level in Metroid Prime 3.
That Ninja woman looks awful, the others are okay though.
Witcher console port canned?????????????????
OMFG what the hell? I wanted that game really badly. This stinks to high heaven what the crapola? Balls, balls, balls, testicle.
F************************************************************************k!
Yeah, his name is Bob if you didn't know already. Funny backstory. He used to be the American world champion martial artist but started to get kicked around by international fighters because he was too skinny. So he gained all that weight because of that. Silly and weird, and funny! Many people are saying Capcom made Rufus because of Bob!
And you can't picture western/steampunk hybrid? Remember that movie with Will Smith Wild Wild West? That's probably the best example of what Red Steel 2 is going for. Also, the Wild ARMs series and that gothic shooter Dark Watch is sort of like that as well.

Sounds like that Van Damme movie with his best buddy when they did that Thai secret tournament.
Wild Wild west, uh. Not good! I'm not familiar with the other stuff you mentioned, Wild Arms is an RPG right? I need pics.
Here are some pics from Wild ARMs:
Screens from Darkwatch:
From Damnation:
Damnation isn't really a western but it has elements of it. But it definitely is steampunk.
I'm thinking Red Steel 2 will be a mix between Damnation and Darkwatch.

Darkwatch looks cool, the others I could leave. What I would want is for the game to be like this:

GG Steampunk is a world with steam powered devices, but only further developed. Or in other words scifi for people back in the steam powered day.
So you have steam powered cars, planes, airships, guns, robots, etc. Good examples are the steam powered robots in Prime 3, the anime Last Exile (watch it) and like ASK said Damnation.
Isn't the Crystal Bearers Steampunk?
BTW I just posted the new PSP article. My computer is getting really wiggy, lately. Visual runtime C++ errors and flash errors. Opera is better but its still not great. Not sure how much I can update like this.
No they use Crystal powers and not Steam.
This is pretty great looking no?
Crystal Bearer sorts of has elements of it, but I wouldn't say it's Steampunk. BUt frankly the style has taken off in popuarity in regards to gaming so there are elements of in it in tons of games.
If you really want to find a Final Fantasy game that had it, FF VI was all about Steampunk, especially if you go back and look at Amano's original designs.
What a pleasant surprise this morning to see a multiplayer demo for Bionic Commando on XBLM. Tried a few matches and it plays great. I got use to the grappling mechanics quite quickly. They seem very well done. Only one map and it's just a straight up deathmatch but it looks very nice and was really a lot of fun. Really looking forward to it's release in May. Day one purchase confirmed.
Can you swing and shoot at the same time?
*I hear Steel asked that once at an orgy*
