Finishing ReArmed is going somewhat well, but I keep getting sidetracked by occasional sessions of Majora's Mask!
Still working on Valkyrie Profile (NDS) and restarted DQV cause I haven't played it in sooo long, I forgot what the heck I was doing!
Finally, I gave up on Suikoden: Tierkreis for reasons listed here!
Hello!
I've been playing Wave Race Blue Storm, and after looking at my game collection list, I decided I'd give Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door another try. I doubt I'll make it to the end (because RPGs suck
), but . . . we'll see.
Howdy.
Now that would be an epic podcast!
Yeah I'd listen to that.
Leo, focus. You are all over the place man.
I am enjoying Punch-Out at the moment. Tuesday I get Infamous so great week ahead.
Most of my time is being spend getting molested by the other sweaty boxers in Punch Out's title defense mode. Currently I'm Bald Bull's bitch. You wouldn't believe how hard he's riding me (okay enough of that).
In between Punch Out matches I've been going back to Donkey Kong Jungle Beat. Let me tell you, this is easily one of the most underrated platformers I've ever played. Very good level design and good Wiimote controls. There's a little waggle control thrown in there, but for the most part it fits. It's good for picking up one level and putting down, or sitting in front of the screen for longer stretches trying to get all the bananas you can. I'm not much of a completionist, but there's something compelling about this game that makes me want to unlock all the crests for each level.
I have the Gamecube version w/ Bongos, and it is a really fun game. I really can't imagine playing the game with the Wii Remote/Nunchuk, though. I'm sure it works, but I don't think I could play it that way. I must annoy my neighbors with loud bongo noise!
Robio's impressions of the game make me want to play DK:JB. I never knew it was that good.
I could never bring myself to play the game with bongos. It just seemed way too gimmicky. Perhaps it was my loss, but this new version is good enough that I have no regrets.
I was surprised and since I missed out on the original I figured why not. Much better than I anticipated. And at $30 it's a pretty good deal.
You need Skype (so you can talk to us), a microphone (so we can actually HEAR what you say) and a program to record said voice (Messer/Audacity).
With the exception of the mic (USB mics work just as well), everything is free.
Oh, what have I been playing?
Nothing new. At. All.
Just still been messing around with MAME, but I've start to re-use my SNES emulators. It's for something coming up. I cannot say much more than that.
Ever since the start of VC I have felt dirty using emulators. Before this gen, I said screw it, I played everything from the 16-bit era and below on emulators, there was no other way to play them. There are still some games that I know can never come out due to licensing, those I have no issue playing. Its not really a moral thing, its more the fact that I find it more satisfying that I can actually own the game, that I get to play it on my TV, on a console.
I have tried a long time to get a MAME emulator that works well, I just could never get one. What do you use Homer, pm me if we cant share that here or something.
Same here. If I can play the game with a controller and on my TV, I'll gladly do it. Hell, I'll be paying for Gunstar Heroes when it hits PSN, ditto RE.
That being said, the chances of me happening on a Daytona USA or Time Crisis machine that I can purchase and actually mess around with are unlikely. And since we can't get ports anytime soon...
Anyway, the best one for beginners I hear is MAME 32. Go get that and install it somewhere on your computer. Then you'll need games. Don't ask me where to get them, google it. Once you do that, save the zipped file into the directory known as ROMS, that should be created when you've installed MAME.
Once you've done that, open up MAME32, move over to the file menu and hit "Audit All Games". This finds games that you've placed in the ROMS folder, and you'll need to do this everytime you download something new.
After that, just double click on the game and away you go. Simple.
A pretty good game, but the Boss Battles are so unfair. And what's more ridiculous is that its almost impossible to die in Normal Mode.
I don't really feel dirty since just "I should actually pay for this to support the game and have the "console feel" on my Wii.

Buy a $5 VGA cable like I did then. Seriously playing PC games on a regular TV makes the game feel just as if you were playing them on a console. And I speak from expereince.

Lately I've mostly been playing Gears of War 2 online multiplayer and the 1 vs. 100 beta. Man I totally love 1 vs. 100, great use of the avatars and just an all around fun game to play. I think the beta is over now so I'm really looking forward to the game coming out and try my hand at winning real prizes.
I can't wait to pick up Bionic Commando and Punch-Out! hopefully by next weekend. I also need to grab some Microsoft and Wii points for a few games and some dlc.

Animal Crossing was a lot more fun this week than it has been in a long time mainly due to visits with the guys here. i also worked hard to pay my stupid mortgage only to agree to have a basement done which will cost me an arm and a leg.
I played some more NES Punch-Out. Very slowly ploughing my way through the World Circuit. This week I should be getting the Wii game in the mail so that will make a nice transition (if i can get AC out of the disc drive where it's sat for months)
Bed-time game this week was rhythm heaven again. just pleasant and relaxing enough for that.
Awesome games both of them. I played legend of the seven stars on the VC only recently and it was the last mario rpg i hadn't played. mario and luigi 3 can't come soon enough.
Most people forget this was made by the team that went on to do Mario Galaxy. not that that retrospectively makes it a great game because it was a great game to begin with. i'm debating whether to get the NPC version having had the GC version and bongos controller. we had an interesting chat on the podcast on saturday about how people feel playing games developed for a specific set of controls, using a new set of controls.
