I enjoyed Ico's platforming parts, but beating those damn spirits with a stick was deplorable. So it was a love/hate thing I guess. Platforming was good but the battle system was awful. I think Sands of Time and Tomb Raider Anniversary surpassed Ico in terms of platforming though.
I picked up Icewind Dale a few years ago when it was on clearance. I also was lucky to snag Baldur's Gate. These are really cool. I can see why they're so renowned. But they are very difficult to get into since I grew up on JRPGs where the game held my hand and provided me with a easier inventory system and with dialogue choices that only range from "yes/no" questions!
Diablo II and Dungeon Siege were much easier for me to get into. I felt they were kind of like Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale but less complicated since they're more focused on action.
I never played Planetscape Torment. I really want to though. But these classic WRPGs feel so intimidating. But I know they're really good.

Gametrailers also gave it a 4.5/10. This isn't looking good for Square-Enix.
But these can be easily fixed with patches and expansions. Also, the PS3 version is delayed so Square-Enix should fix the game before releasing it on consoles.

^I wonder if there was a business reason for releasing it so early? It's not like Square to put out a broken/unfinished game. I wonder who developed it, like it was the same internal team as did FF11 or if it was outsourced? It's puzzling.
I'm thinking about trading in Kingdom Hearts Birth By Sleep. It was cool at first but it's really starting to feel repetitive. There are just too many lazy designs like beating a bunch of tough enemies within a given time limit, a cheap kart racing section, escorting missions (which was the MOST frustrating part I ever played in all my years of gaming!). I HATE this kind of game design. When you die you have to start all over too. It's very obvious that this game was a quick cash-in even though the graphics look good.
And once you get passed a part you get hit with a insanely difficult and powerful boss that takes you out with one move. I wonder what Nomura and his team is thinking? Do they really think that putting in crazy bosses that can take you out with one blow is "cool?" Well, it's only not cool, but I think it's also terrible and lazy game design.

I think it's the FFXI team.
I don't remember correctly, but I think FFXI had a similar reaction at first and slowly fixed its issues.
But FFXI did get better reviews at launch though.

What games did you play this weekend?
Me:
Some Boom Chicka Wow Wow...
...a bit of Click Click Boom...
...and a smidge of BOOM-SHAKA-LAKA!
Sadly, No CastleVania...
...
Oh, Icewind Dale. That game is on my sights as well, alongside BG.
As for what am I playing? Right now I'm trying to find my way out of the Mortuary in P:T. And I just found out that necrophilia is the least disgusting thing I'm going to learn of before I leave this horrible place.
^^ Hang in there, Leo. Hope you get well soon.
And NBA Jam looks pretty cool. Brings back memories.
...of getting my butt kicked at the arcades!

I've played nothing.
Almost finished with Supernatural Season 4, though.
Me? All I'm playing are handheld games:
FF 4 Heroes of Light
Shantae Risky's Revenge
Medal of Honor Heroes
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
...
Just read that Medal of Honor's single player is less than 4 hours long!
I guess someone can get their money's worth with the multiplayer, but I highly doubt it'll take over Black Ops or MW2. I say it'll have an active community for the first few months and than it'll fizzle out.

No. I still have it. I just haven't played it.
