Edgecrusher, Goldeneye impressions, nao.
Horror games would be sick on the 3DS in a dark room with headphones on. Dead Space would be great and I'd love to see some old school RE games moreso than RE4 style games. The way zombies would pop out of nowhere in the old games....that would be awesome on the 3DS.
I played the first one so much, I found/bought/unlocked everything there was in the game (+ some stuff I got by connecting with a friend who had a different version). Will steer clear of the 3DS version. I don't think I could get hooked on an experience so empty and shallow for a second time.

Goldeneye? I thought I let you guys know that I loved the game before I disappeared for 3 months?
I thought the level design was top notch and the production values were as good as could be hoped for on Wii. The controls were nice and smooth and the way they told the story had that gritty modern Bond feel to it that I thought was great. As a story-based campaign it obliterated anything in the Call of Duty games from the same publisher, and its one of the more enjoyable single-player shooters of the generation IMO. Didn't mess with too much online before I sold my Wii, but it seemed solid. The only negatives I can think of right now was that the AI could have been more realistic...it didn't have that Halo or Crysis lifelike behavior to it. But I could say that about most games.
Can't wait for this.
But from what I've noticed the popping out of the screen stuff is better when it's done slowly. If an enemy in RE popped out like that guy in the oven in re4 he would run too fast towards you and your eyes would have to focus and re-focus too quickly for the effect to mean anything. When the popping out of the screen stuff is done slowly and methodically the effect is superb.
Yeah I got the first game, think I sold it after 2 weeks. I wanted the sequel to just give you stuff to actually do, maybe some more kind of incentive to play. It's just improved the graphics, nothing else really. The 3D is great though, they have these static storefronts, but the 3D is so good I just enjoyed clicking on the stores to look at the desks and chairs in 3D.
It would have been cool if they had built a full on street or town where you could walk about with your dog, doing quests or something. Maybe have you train a rescue dog, talk to NPCs etc. The improvements in the 3DS game are all baby steps.
Yeah, just the one line about how it was awesome. I wanted to know the full story.
Did you use the IR or the classic controller?
Nice impressions I agree with nearly all of it, except the AI part, I thought it was at least as good as Halo. The level design was just, so well done and tight, you know? Not just sprawling or huge landscapes, it was just the perfect size and shape and allowed you to play inventively too. The only problem I had was that the Aim Down Sights controls weren't great compared to the competition.
Most people I talked to say the same thing about the single player - one of the best for years. Defending Natalya though.... why is always such a bitch?
I used the Remote. I honestly don't really like the classic controller. The sticks feel cheesy and the triggers blow. I hate using any controller besides the Xbox pad for shooters really.
I hope they leave Eurocom in charge of making Bond games from now on. They really nailed it.
Agreed. They seem to have gone back to GE 64 and seen what makes the core gameplay good and then designed the new game with that philosyphy in mind.
Did you check out Dead Space Extraction? They made that too. It's similar to GE in that they have the same mature storytelling, performance capture and uses the same engine. I thought it would be bunk because it was a "first person experience" but it's honestly quite good. No replay value though.
No but I did see Extraction used at a local store for $12. I would have nabbed it if I had a Wii right now.
I'd like to hear what Matt Cassassmasina thought of Goldeneye. I miss reading that motherfuckers stuff...IGN Nintendo blows without him there.
Nintendogs has Augmented reality card support.
So you can go out and about and take pics of your virtual dog in real environments.
Look at the inside of the box:
Apparently this is not in the US box, only the euro one.
Speaking of Resident Evil...
I've played level 2-1 of RE5 like 9 times now. I've either gotten close to the end or gotten distracted and turned it off (and had to start over).
yeah, I've been pretty tired while playing, but still, game could use some meaningful checkpoints.
Sometimes it says Checkpoint (or even Saving), but it means nothing. If you turn off, you go back pretty far in the stage.
Not really complaining but... well I guess I am.
Everyone at IGN nintendo quit the team. There is no reason to even go there anymore, they aren't even up to date with news and reviews. Reminds me of the gamespot brain drain once Kassavin left.
RE5 is a weird game. I mean I liked it, but at the same time was disappointed with it. A case of a game being solid for what it is, yet not really what you wanted it to be. Kind of like Castlevania as well. And the two-character idea with Shiva was just a bad decision.
Yeah its too bad. IGN used to be THE place for Nintendo news. I used to check that site every fucking day. Even in the most boring of periods they always had SOMETHING. But without Matt C. teabaggin' Perrin Kaplan, I guess we get shit on.
I can't bring myself to replay RE0 because of the two character swapping.
Yeah that was also the main reason for RE Zero not being as good as the older games. That, and the ridiculous inventory system. And the horrible backstory.
