Now I know what to do with the items - the collectable non-equipable items. You can present them to another party member to increase your affinity with them which lets you add special moves types between characters. You can also add the items to an encyclopedia which gives you experience points to level up your character.
They added yet another component to the combat. You can see the future.
You get visions of the future which show major moves by the enemy targeting a specific character which may even kill them in one blow.
You can then run up to said character and warn them of the future - which at the cost of one bar of you special power, will allow them to perform an art to counter the attack.
And you can also do something to change the future, like inflict a daze or topple move on the enemy, or put up a shield to protect everyone. Very cool, yet I'm still learning about how to fight against it as there are 3 different attack types, physical, arts and something else. I need to read more to get it down pat.
Also some of the battles are quite tactical, there is this spider boss which at first I got crushed at and now I am much better, yet not quite good enough to beat him yet.
I'm jealous. Next HDTV I get I'm going to read reviews looking specifically at upscaling performance. I know it's possible because my Bluray player has great upscaling.
If your Sony doesn't have progressive scan than you must have used either an s-video or simple composite cables to connect older consoles to it? That could be the reason why the HDTV looks good in comparison. A component or here in europe - RGB Scart cable seperates the colours and gives a much clearer picture on an SDTV.
I don't hate what I can't play.
Are you playing with the Xbox 1 disc or are you playing a downloaded version? If it's downloaded they probably tweaked the code to make it HD, which is technically not upscaling I think. Upscaling will not completely eliminate jaggies.
These are scans so forgive the image quality
Watch this before Ubisoft takes it down. I am Alive looks like a cross between Prince of Persia and Condemned
Pics here

It has S-video and Component, which is pointless because without the 480p the component connection looks just like s-video. I used to go back and forth trying to tell a difference, and there wasn't one.
I'm playing Halo from an Xbox 1 disk, and I don't see any jaggies.
And yes NOA sucks. When is the last time we have seen such a disconnect from one branch of a company. They are not releasing crap this gen. It's crazy, what company does this? I understand not localizing some crazy weird Japanese game. But these are games that have a history in America. Fatal Frame is a known franchise. Xeno is a known franchise. Disaster is basically a game made for western gamers. It makes no sense and what is worse is that Nintendo of Japan allows it.
Yep....NOA has been so fucking casualized over the past 5 years they are like a different company. How they plan on catering to the hardcore with Wii 2 with this mindset is beyond me.
Do any of us really think that NOA makes these decisions for themselves? I've always just seen them as the local distributor and Reggie as a PR guy. I don't get any impression at all that they get to make such calls.
Even so, all this faux outrage from people who would never have bought it anyway is a bit rich. I think some people are just using it as an excuse to hammer Nintendo.
