Resumed MGSV, and I'm enjoying the tougher chapter 2 missions so far. Except that the radio dickhead didn't tell me I was in the same room as a thing I was meant to destroy on subsistence...could have got an A or S first try if I'd destroyed it and ran away then and there.
Also finished that 9 hour endurance race. Turns out I'm not good enough to beat cars 13 years in advance of my own if they're from the same racing series, even in the rain. So I spent the last third or so of the race practicing drifting... Still one of my favourite cars in the game:
After the amazing trailer yesterday where it looked like our dreams were coming true today our hearts are broken. Square has announced that FFVII remake will be an episodic release.
LOS ANGELES (Dec. 6, 2015) - During this past weekend’s PlayStation Experience in San Francisco, SQUARE ENIX® debuted a new trailer for FINAL FANTASY® VII REMAKE, the full remake of the award-winning role-playing game, FINAL FANTASY VII. The new trailer features the first CG scenes as well as gameplay footage. FINAL FANTASY VII REMAKE will be told across a multi-part series, with each entry providing its own unique experience.
What does this mean, most likely that the over world is out. The game is too huge to be made with modern graphics, so they will probably remove the over world. I suspect we will get a linear FFXIII like game with each episode a different setting of the story. You dont get to explore, you explore the story in a linear fashion.
there is no other way, an overworld cannot work on an episodic game. So unless I see other wise this is what I expect. Thus the best part of FFVII will be missing.
Plus who knows how much milking square will do to take as much money from us.
I was going to post about the Patriots losing two straight games.....but then I see this horrible news about FF7.
What the fuck is wrong with these companies today? And the sleazeball way they get you hyped thinking something will be a certain way, only to find out afterwards that they're doing something completely different.
I really can't stand the modern gaming industry.
STP was one of my favorite bands going back to highschool (Velvet Revolver could fuck off) so I'm a little sad to see him go, but not very. The way I look at is Scott Weiland lived longer than he was ever supposed to. Some people can live a full life in half the time, and he did.
I'm sort of the same. I was big time into grunge in my early teens and even from back then we knew Layne Staley, Scott Weiland and Mark Lanegan would all one day OD. The first two lived longer than we'd thought and Lanegan may have overcome his afflictions for good (though you're never home and dry with these things).
Still sad to hear the news.
Another sad thing is that STP were around at the time of Grunge but they weren't from Seattle they were from California so they were immediately scorned as sell-outs and never had the credibility of some of the other bands even though they were better than a lot of them and in Weiland they had a charismatic frontman. I used to listen to the first three STP CDs (and Weiland's solo album) quite a lot.
Velvet Revolver was an attempt by redundant musicians to cash-in on the names of their previous bands. It was never meant to be anything else.
I've always thought it was funny the way STP got labeled as a Pearl Jam ripoff even though they sounded more like Alice in Chains with a dash of Nirvana on their first album. I always hated grunge...I mean I HATED it. While everyone was listening to that I was listening to Pantera, Slayer, Steve Vai, classic rock etc. But I always loved STP, Alice in Chains, and Primus. To me, they were more Hard Rock and metal, than alternative or grunge. But grunge was the COOL label at the time so bands would just run with it.
It always bothered me too, how a certain zip code had exclusive rights to a certain sound or style. Like Seattle with grunge, and before that it was the Bay Area in California for the thrash metal bands. Because if you didn't happen to live in those areas you couldn't possibly have any talent or have anything to say right? And labeling a band a ripoff of an entire style because they don't come from these zip codes is hilarious. I mean, how does something like grunge become a style in the first place? By a bunch of guys taking ideas from each other and "ripping" each other off! Having more bands continue this from other cities or whatever, is just the natural progression of even more people finding out about a certain style.
As for STP, they were really good musicians for what they did, and great song writers. Probably better than any band from Seattle other than maybe Alice in Chains.
There were a few great Thrash metal bands from Seattle too, like Sanctuary/Nevermore and Forced Entry.

This is true....a game this huge can only be done with PS1 graphics.
LOL
But seriously, this is a way to milk the shit out of this game. Add up the price of all the episodes and it will cost way more than a standalone AAA release.
I was thinking that too. SE could easily stretch out the games to make it go out to 5 episodes each for $20. Kinda scary.
Still I'm not 100% throwing in the town. I can imagine scenarios how moat of the open world could still be there even in an episodic release. And if they don't go over the top they can easily make an overworld. Ni No Kuni did a serviceable non detailed overworld, and while it was not impressive it certainly did the job.

I'm not buying it until its a full game....I fucking HATE this episodic bullshit. And for a legendary game like this, it feels incredibly wrong.

There's no reason at all they can't do the overworld....I mean please, this is ridiculous if that is what they're saying. Laziness, and not wanting to invest too much into the game is reason for not having an overworld. The overworld was a huge part of what made the games special back then....if they strip that out it almost turns it into an adventure game. Hell, I'd love it if the overworld was the exact same thing as the old one, just prettier.
Or, they could make it a proper open world like Lightning Returns and Xenoblade, and just have the whole game connected and the overworld is just part of that.
And in even more disappointing news, yesterday all 8 of the Central Florida Bojangles closed for business yesterday. The franchise owner decided he didn't want to be in that business anymore. Dozens of people are out of work right before Christmas, and I can't get the best fried chicken in town anymore.
