Yeah, but the game's are now in HD.

Hands on?
The specs at the weekend have been a bit offputting. Maybe its too much to ask something of that size to match machines so much larger.
We're hearing 4GB RAM now and the bandwidth sounds small. GAF says PS4/XB1 only have about 5.5gb useable ram for games with the rest for the OS. Not sure how much 3rd party support it will get. I'd expect the minimum will be Japanese portable games will come to it. If it weren't for the promise of a single platform for all Nintendo's games I might skip this one. And it sounds like they want to hedge their bets with 3DS support continuing so I think there will be studios making games just for 3DS still.
Anyhow there is an Animal Crossing Direct this week.
I thought Dave Mustaine was Mega Man?
Does anyone really bet on a Nintendo console getting great 3rd-party support when it has three other platforms to compete with, while Nintendo always tried its best NOT to compete? To me it's all about keeping reality in focus when buying a Nintendo console....you buy it if you like Nintendo 1st-party games. You don't buy it if you're not a fan of Nintendo's 1st-party games.
I've said already I think the Switch looks like what the Wii U SHOULD have been, and not really much more than that. The absolute best you can hope for 3rd-party speaking, is that the thing blows up in sales like the original Wii and you get a bunch of niche, cool exclusives from outside developers. I just can't see it getting the top end support that Xbox, Playstation and PC will have on any kind of substantial level. People make a huge deal about them showing Skyrim and Basketball as if this confirms incredible support....I mean, they do this EVERY TIME they launch a new machine. Doesn't mean anything.
I couldn't really care less about the 3rd-party Switch thing. I'm definitely planning on getting a Scorpio so that's where my 3rd-party games are going anyway. I'm not sold on the PS Pro though....just not sure it's big enough of a jump to justify the price. Maybe in a few years when it's cheaper. In terms of the Switch, the best news by far for it, is just the fact that this is the 1st Nintendo console since the fucking NES where you're not going to be getting stripped of development and resources as a home console guy, that will be diverted to a handheld. So you're getting ALL of Nintendo, not HALF or as far as I could tell any times over the years, LESS THAN HALF if you prefer home consoles. That's pretty huge. Hopefully it means more big budget games from them. More Metroid, etc.
I don't buy Nintendo's BS about the Switch not killing the 3ds just as I don't buy the great 3rd-party support and I didn't buy the "DS is our 3rd pillar" nonsense about it not killing the Game Boy. Wii U and 3DS are done, period. I'm sure they'll sell a few more 3ds's than they will Wii U's with people buying cheap gifts for their kids and whatnot, but outside of that once the sales stop it's over.
Been playing Gears of War 4 and I'm loving it. So far all I've played has been the multiplayer and it feels fantastic. This is the best that the franchise has ever felt. Movement is great and the camera during roadie running allows for a very nice and unobstructed view of surroundings. Weapons feel fantastic and incredibly satisfying. Dodgeball is a lot of fun and you can get into some really epic back and forth battles. Escalation is quite cool. You try and capture three points on a map and if you can hold all three at once for five seconds you can end a match quickly.
Horde 3.0 has also improved quite nicely. The class system really further enhances this excellent mode and raises the importance of team work.
I love the Halloween themed pumpkin heads on the characters which look great, can't wait to see the snowman heads that they'll most likely have for Christmas.
I'm surprised Nintendo is using the "third pillar" argument again. I mean it made somewhat sense with the Nintendo DS being tha it was so different than everything else and that the GBA's life was cut too early. Hell, the GBA continued to sell reasonably well for two years after the DS launched. In contrast, the 3DS's situation couldn't be more different. For starts, the Switch isn't different from the 3DS at all, besides not having 3D (a selling point that few people care about). On top of that, 3DS sales haven't been stellar. I mean yes the past two months have been, but that's the "Poke'mon Go" effect, something that the Switch will definitely will pick up. The 3DS is very long in the tooth in terms of sales and technology. I'd be surprised if Nintendo shows it any kind of support besides the bottom of the barrel by this time next year.

There you go. I'm vindicated!
Unless you'er a purist and playing these games on anything other than their intended resolution seems sacriligious to you. Which, when taking in account your massive games collection, I can only assume rings true for you.
They're not saying it's a third pillar as was originally communicated with the 3DS. They're saying that the Switch is there to replace the WiiU. I'm guessing Nintendo will want to see how well the Switch is doing before making final decisions on where to go next with thier DS line. I'm really interested to see how Nintendo is going to lead up to the launch of this thing without hitting all the same PR mistakes they did with the WiiU, as the Switch has the potential to be a lot more confusing to consumers.
Agree, when the sales stop. But knowing Nintendo they'll try to keep the 3ds alive for a few more years and will probably have a few exclusive games there too. So far we haven't heard anything about 3ds games coming to Switch. I'm curious to see whether the Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing mobile games are fully featured and on Switch (without microtransactions).
Sorry, Nintendo: Splatoon wouldn’t make a good esport (Polygon)
Do these guys even play Splatoon? There are so many moments when one person can turn the tide of battle and so many moments when making a vital kill will win you the match. I remember one match on Walleye Warehouse which is notoriously hard to reclaim once the central area is overun. I had mostly rollers on my team who can't do jackshit once the central area is overun. Virtually single handedly, after dying - I went back in and claimed that area and beyond with my Splatling and Sprinkler and eventually made 12 kills by myself, which won us the match.
So I was watching the BBC news this morning on TV and they said Sony's profits had plunged 80%- which I think is wrong, I think the reports I have seen said 25% so far.
Anyhow what was interesting was that the BBC Blamed Brexit, they said that because of the weak pound, investors had banked on the Yen instead, which raised its value so much, it impacted selling Japanese goods abroad.
Great updates. Ive been playing the FPS parade, I will review all three together when I finish them. EA is so stupid for releasing titanfall 2 in the middle of a BF and CoD sandwich.
I'm so happy SNK is going back to SNK after being SNK Playmore.
I also love that they are back to using the ad slogan: "The Future is Now"
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
I really wish that they'd bring The King of Fighters XIV over to the Xbox One.
Yay! Blue Dragon is making the backwards compatibility list for the Xbox One today!
Everyone play Owlboy now!
