I've watched some of the Monster Hunter World demo, and I'm still not convinced. They've gotten rid of all the idiosyncracies that defined how the game played, save for the actual fighting of the monsters itself. There's no seconds long animation for gathering material anymore, there are screen prompts telling you how much damage you're doing, your weapons still degrade, but you get something akin to a staimina bar telling you how long you've still got before your weapons sharpness falls a level. Where is the mystery? Seems to be focused much more on the action part, less on knowing your stuff. From the Rathalos fight at least it still seems that the monsters follow attack paterns for you to learn.
edit: I also don't like the GPS-bugs that guide you to points of interest and your prey. I dislike these things in general, as you end up just following whatever it is around instead of enjoying the game and the sights, but here it's even more sacriligeous, as it has completely replaced the paintball mechanic. I hope you can turn this off.
A Way Out dev criticises PS4 "This is like a five-year-old PC"
Is this guy retarded? It's basically a 5 year old console now.
It's insane that GTAV is still in the top three according to NPD.
Boy, do I hate that arms character already by just looking at that short GIF. What an abomination.
Reminds me so much of Punchout.
He's the final boss.
I am stuck on him at level 3 as Min Min. You guys have no idea how hard this game is on level 4 and up. Level 3 is about right for me, still challenging but fair and do-able - aside from an individual round or so where you get punished. Level 4 feels insane at times, the AI reads every move you do and can just punish you hard, repeatedly. I had to continue after losing each match like 3 times just to get about 4 matches in out of 10 and just gave up.
I was trying to beat the boss last night and literally got to the state where I wanted to smash my switch, I was throwing it about on the bed, flipping it over, felt like punching it. I can't even imagine what level 5-7 is like. And you need to beat level 4 to play ranked.
Thank God there is party mode - equivalent to Splatoon turf wars.
From what I played of the Testpunches, ARMS seemed like a very reactionary game to me. Since there's so much delay between throwing a punch and it making contact, you had enough time to read an incoming attack, dodge it and counterattack most of the time. I found it better to not grab at all, unless I saw the opponent attempting on. You could then easily leap up above it and counter with a grab yourself, as your opponent would be sitting there defenseless. I found it much easier to win games once I had decided to not go on the offense, but play purely defensive.
Robio, I summon thee! Enlighten us with your thoughts on the newly announced MH:World !
Yeah......... I wish.
What you say can work against other human characters and marginally well on the AI. But the games AI on level 4 and up will literally smash you to pieces with no sympathy or common decency.
To me a good AI is one that knows when its being unfair, here it can be relentless. But thankfully you can just play on a lower difficulty and find your sweet spot.
Let me use the Monster Hunter Baby to summon him.
Not bad, but I think this will prove to be more efficient:
Damn, Kid Cobra is awesome, might be my new favourite character
He's got a super fast jump which can act as a dodge and when you land you are charged. When charged you can do 3 super quick dodges in any direction then attack. I was dodging virtually everything.
Also worked out how to beat jumping douches with the Hydra
Also got Max Brass by the balls as Kid Cobra dodging his shit. But also worked out how to beat him with dual dragons. You have to keep them charged and keep him at max distance away from you.
L.A. Noire remaster rumoured for release on Switch, PS4, and X1
Of all the games to release on Switch..... come on.
GTAV is a no brainer, LA Noire will crash and burn.
I might prefer it on the Switch just because I can't really play it on my large TV children could see the naked dead bodies in the game.
SUPER MARIO MAKER LEVELS:
Well, they gotta learn sometime.
At any rate, Monster Hunter World doesn't have me too excited, though to be fair I haven't watched tons of footage yet. Still, from what I have seen they have definitely dumbed it down. I really don't like seeing the hits points during attack. The whole damn point of the game was to familiarize yourself with your enemy and your equipment so that you knew how the combat was going judging by the monsters reactions.
I am by no means writing the game off yet, but I'm not as excited about it coming to the PS4 as I probably could have been.
