The Apple headset has nice tech but nothing actually NEW, it's just better versions of what came before.

Par for course for Apple.  Other than the ipod, Ipad and iphone, they've always relied on itteration and improvement rather than innovation.

Ah, I'm back.

Had so much diarrhoea on flight day it was insane.

14 hr flight but also spent an additional 8 hours in Changi airport in Singapore.

It's not as great as I was led to believe. Problem is that the waterfall and vegetation can't compare to the Cloud forest dome at Gardens by the Bay.

All the activities are spread out  so far and across so many floors it's a pain in the ass to get to them.

Most of them require you to purchase additional tickets for. The walk between terminals and the attractions can take as long as 36 mins.

I swear to god at one point I had to walk a 3 mile round trip just to use the toilet.

We had a Michelin starred roasted meat noodle dish which was great. Though not much better than whats sold at hawker centres so a bit overhyped.

It wouldn't be a GG holiday without diarrhoea.

So we had Geoffapalooza! That was a solid show. Prince of Persia metroidvania by the Rayman Legends team?! I am IN!

MK 1 looks like MK... which is great cause I love MK. The kameo system looks like a blast, love that it's all nostalgia based. Classic fatalities and all that. I was hoping for a full adventure mode but it seems more of the same.

Alan Wake 2, really boring presentation, really boring gameplay shown. I hope it's good, the first was fine, ehhh, but I like more action horror games.

SONIC!!!! New 2D sonic!!!! Please don't suck!!!! What is this year?! Now I'm getting a new 2D sonic too? Best year in games ever.

The John Carpenter toxic commando game looked fun.

Sand Land looked really cool, like open world action game DQ.

FFVII Rebirth, holy shiiiiit!!! I can't believe it's almost ready, I thought this would take forever, they are going to finish the entire remake one day! The world looks beautiful. Now we are getting into the meat of the game, can't wait to see more.

Twisted Metal show looks so dumb... ill watch.

So this has been a favorite thread of mine lately on era, they had a vote asking for the top 50 Nintendo games of all time. People got to pick their top 15 games and each got points based on the rank. This is the results thread and they are slowly revealing 10 games a day, they just reached 21. One of the first things mentioned was that the original Zelda didn't make the list, it was ranked 51. Well that sparked me and other old ass gamers like me to chastise these young whipper snappers on how disrespectful it is to have a 50 greatest Nintendo games list and not have the OG Zelda in there.

it's been a fascinating discussion with some people just finding the game too obtuse. Some saying it's no longer fun to play. The list is just favorite games and that one had been surpassed by many. Everyone seemed to have different criteria for voting, it wasn't more important nintendo games so I understand why it isn't near the top but it goes to show that older games aren't as appreciated. Now SMB3 is going to be top 20, maybe 10, as it should be. And I think it shows how incredibly playable that game was back in the NES days, truly the best NES game.

I think the top 10 will all be Mario, Zelda and a Metroid game or two, and that won't be a bad list.

Zelda 1 and 2 need remakes to make them more user friendly and better looking.

Ive never been able to play more than 10 minutes. Same for Metroid NES.

the original Zelda is still perfectly playable.  I think I played and beat it for the first time a year or 2 ago.  Only downside is that some things are so well hidden you need a guide to find them, as there are no more manuals with tips to help you out.

I think part of the problem is also how 'Digital Natives' (fancy word for youngsters) consume media.  There's such an overabundance they're used to tracking that they're basically the offspring of a goldfish and a magpie.  If what you're offering isn't fancy looking and requires an attention span of more than 2 minutes, they won't bother.

Original legend of Zelda is still 100% playable. If anyone plays it, I always advise ensuring you have access to the same manual and partial map that was provided with it, but other than that just go explore and figure out the secrets. I was half the fun of the damn game.

As to whether or not it's still a top 50 game that Nintendo has made, that's a good question. I'm inclined to say yes, but after almost 40 years of games, I don't think it would rank very high on my list. I'd probably put it somewhere between 41 and 50.

I think the big issue with those old games is they are short, Zelda is done in a few hours. Everyone these days after used to massive games. So if you are thinking of games you rather play a few hour long old Zelda game is probably not coming up. Now I see it differently, for that hour or two I can enjoy the nostalgia trip. I remember what it's like to play Zelda back when there was nothing like it. So that's how I kind of did my list, judge the games on how great they were when they were released.

Zelda 1 is near-perfect. Like Robio said, the map and manual are essential. No hand holding. The way gaming should be.

I googled Anya Taylor Joy.

Her eyes are freakishly far apart.  It's downright unsettling.  I remember this movie Splice, where they had a humanoid creature that resembled a woman and they used AI to move the actress' eyes further apart to make her look more like an alien.  Also, I bet she has a hard time setting her IPD properly in VR headsets.

Yeah that Summer Game Fest show yesterday was pretty darn good. Really liked what I saw with Mortal Kombat 1, Alan Wake 2, and Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. FFVIIR looks fantastic.

Really looking forward to Microsoft’s show on Sunday and Capcom’s on Monday.
