I really should pick up a longer cable for my PS5 controller. The default one is annoyingly short.
Spiritfarer has one relatively annoying weakness. It's all fine for the most part but I'm kinda hitting a wall.
Sometimes you need certain resources, or certain items created by certain resources - sometimes processed through a crafting centre you build like a Foundry or Loom.
It doesn't tell you how to make certain things or where to get them. Some resources can only be gathered at certain events, but only if you have a specific character to start the gameplay segment.
So the game asks me to craft a smithy. It doesn't tell me if it's something the shipright builds or whether I have to find the blueprint for it. Then it says I need comet dust, an item I have never encountered. To get comet dust I need to get comet rocks. I can't get the comet rocks as I can't access the event without the correct spirit character in my crew. It doesn't tell who the character is or where to find them. Factor in that the ocean map is probably larger than Wind Waker (albeit in 3d) and you end up going through the daily motions and sailing around not finding what you're looking for.
I had to make a list and scour the internet for answers. I know that doesn't sound fun, but I'm reminded of BOTW or Harvest Moon AWL, both games I enjoyed so much that I kept hand written notes for. The games called Spirit farer, but you're actually building this behemoth ship/grand hotel/self sustaining project. And it's hugely rewarding for that.
But I definitely don't see it as any red flags regarding the industry itself. Nintendo is doing just fine cranking out middle of the road games on a regular basis and is making money hand over fist. And on the other end of things you've got Rockstar (whose management may or may not be in touch with how the world works as far as it's employees), but have also figured out how to get by with releasing one or two games at generation of super high quality, and then providing a never-ending stream of online content for them.
Point is, there are good formulas that work out there in the gaming world. If anything, just seems like the only real problem the industry facing is CEOs with good business sense.
RE4 Remake's Chapter 5 "Stand Your Ground" end level with louis was intense! Took me 6 tries to beat it on Standard difficulty. Now I need a nap.
Not yet but I too am keeping an eye on it and wouldn’t mind picking it up someday when I see a really good sale for it.
Pretty intense indeed. Needed a nap after as well.
Anyone see the latest switch 2 rumors?
An Nvidia leaker said its been done since the end of 2022 and Nintendos just been sitting on it.
They said that AMD bid hard to get the contract but Nvidia still won. Nvidia presented Nintendo with various options including a Lovelace based architecture. But Nintendo chose the cheaper Ampere option with a few extra features. So the t239 breakdown Digital Foundry did is mostly accurate. They say it can launch with a range of RAM options, 8gb being the lowest and most probable (I guess)
Also Samsung has developed this super fast micro sd cards in conjunction with another request from a company. People assuming it's Nintendo, the cards are up to 10x as fast as normal sd cards but still nowhere near as fast as a SSD. But these are impractical for a handheld.
I read an article ages ago which said that Nvidia cancelled the architecture that switch was going to be released on (thor) and that would mean the latest blackwell architecture which wasn't going to release till 2025.
No ones questioned whether there's any credence to that report (by a credible Samsung leaker)
It just seems a bit weird to me that the Switch Pro was real and was a thing, till Nintendo decided not to pull the trigger, going with the OLED instead. All the tech leaks we've heard relate to that Switch Pro.
But if Switch Pro was real and was cancelled, doesn't they mean all the leaks could have been for an outdated, never released mid generation upgrade?
And that the new system might be something else?
It'll be 2 Switches ducttaped together. It is the Nintendo way.
BUT! They'll be taped in such a way that they form a clamshell design, similar to that of the 3DS. It'll come with straps so you can strap the 2 screens in front of your 2 eyes for VR. The joycon will strap to your feet and hands for full body traction.
Rambling, pointless, non-sensical story, with an OK battle system. Not Team Ninja's best work. Just OK at a discounted price; not worth full price.
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is so damn good. Am fairly deep into Chapter 2 and having a great time with this game. Overall in general it looks fantastic. Some traversal animations can look a bit wonky but I love exploring the game's world. Combat is a lot of fun with a lot of diverse mechanics amongst characters. Walking around in Kalm it was crazy to here all the dialog from the townsfolk. Tons of charm and personality oozing from this game from the cast of characters and beyond. The mini game, Queen's Blood, is excellent. Will definitely be playing a lot of that for sure.
I sooo wanted to love it. You would figure Final Fantasy to Nioh would be incredible... It's just not and the inventory system is horrendous.
Maybe I'll just finally play Nioh instead.
I've spent about 5 hours with it over the past 2 days, and I can confirm my fucking hate Sony for putting this game into my hands. This really walks that line of puzzle games that test you versus ones that just mock you. I don't think I'm having fun.
