Diablo 4 is in development for Switch 2 and there was a teardown of Switch 2 joycons which showed hall effect sticks.

I was pretty much thinking that I would pick up a Switch 2 on day one. I believe that may change. I've currently ordered tickets to a music festival in Charleston in April. Plus, getting debts down because I want to take the fam to Europe in about a year. I guess with age I value experiences than the material things. It has become my midlife crisis to want travel. Who knows? I may still pick it up on day one. Its more of a wait snd see for me now.

Thankfully I've travelled a lot.

You have to think that you need everyday entertainment, the cost of Switch 2 won't even cover the cost of a full week overseas vacation for one person.

I've started to see travel as an enjoyable but wasteful luxury. Travel costs are also so much higher now post covid.

What Playing. Not sure where I was up to last week but these are the games I've beaten in the last week:

Firewatch - first playthough. Glad I did? Not sure.

Doki Doki Literature Club - fist playthrough. An odd game that's for sure. Glad I played it though.

Aperture Desk Job - Nice peak into what Valve is capable of these days.

80 Days - A really stylish game that has a lot of complexity under the hood. I had some control issues with it on the Steam Deck.  Amazingly this is now a ten year old game!

I've started Spiritfarer which has a pretty awesome game loop.  I looked up how long to beat and they say 25 hours.  Not sure the hook is great enough to sustain that length of game, but then I am only just starting.  I't'll probably consume my gaming time for the rest of the month. What sort of game is it? Animal Crossing meets Harvest Moon meets Wind Waker, with some light platforming elements and an intriguing narrative with good character development.

I really enjoyed it.

You look after the residents on the ship, expand your ship. Map the seas and visit different islands. There's platforming and some "boss" like encounters. Just remember you don't have to cook elaborate meals each day. A piece of fruit usually does the job. And you can swap between a fruit and something else on odd days.

This weekend consisted only of playing more Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake.

I binge watched season 3 of From.

Good series, very like Lost or Wayward Pines. Hoping it all makes sense in the end.

You must have heard of Lost? One of the best tv shows I've ever seen, once you make it past the boring season 1.

Wayward Pines was cool, I think it was directed or produced by M. Night Shalaman, set in a weird controlled town where monsters would break through at night.

"From" has links to the Lost producers/writers. People get stuck in this town where monsters come out at night to kill them, but there's a deep mystery and story to it. Ghosts and more. Each season is 10 episodes so it's easy to watch.

Wayward Pines is a bit better,  but From is not far behind.

I've gotten completely back into Baldur's Gate 3. There's so much about this that feels like why I actually liked games at some point. But there are some edges that could be smoothed out. I'm hoping the massive success means we're going to get another one in a dev cycle that is less than the 23 years between 2 and 3. Though the progression of the Baldur's Gate brand has been all over the place.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile

Don’t have Disney Plus currently. Been thinking of getting it for a bit to check it out.

I restarted playing it again myself last weekend. The amount of gameplay depth it has is impressive.

Well, if any movie series deserved to be on American Movie Classics, it would definitely have to be Police academy.

I was thinking about it. After you watched the police academy movies, you should follow it up with a couple episodes of Sledgehammer.

Turns out it wasn't a marathon, just PA2. Bob Goldthwaite was the villain.

That was the worst one until they got to Police Acadamy 5.

How much would you guys pay for GTA 6?

There was a story yesterday that some company or financial analyst saying Rockstar charging $100 for GTA 6 would be the impetus for publishers to raise game prices to that level for AAA games going forward.

For some reason $100 = £100 even though that not the exchange rate wtf.

I don't think I would ever pay that much for a game.

What's the most expensive game you've ever bought?

Mine was an imported version of Streetfighter 2 Turbo on SNES from Japan for £90. I was a kid so I didn't have cash, but I traded in a shit load of games for it.

I feel that GTA6 could get away with $100, but other AAA games couldn't.  GTA6 is a cultural phenomenon in a way that not even something like COD or ex-Fifa is.

Most I ever paid for a game was a little above €100 in 2001 for Conkers BFD, which was much higher than other games due to the how big the game was and it requiring a larger cart.  When corrected to inflation that'd equate about 165 of today's Euro's.  Then again, games have hardly risen in price since then, so I'm not sure inflation needs to be part of the equation here.

I see these comments all the time.  current exchange rate is 1.23 dollars for a pound.  US prices are without VAT.  VAT in the UK is 20%.  So a $100 game + UK VAT equals $120, which is neigh on exactly £100.
