What Playing. Not sure where I was up to last week but these are the games I've beaten in the last week:
Firewatch - first playthough. Glad I did? Not sure.
Doki Doki Literature Club - fist playthrough. An odd game that's for sure. Glad I played it though.
Aperture Desk Job - Nice peak into what Valve is capable of these days.
80 Days - A really stylish game that has a lot of complexity under the hood. I had some control issues with it on the Steam Deck. Amazingly this is now a ten year old game!
I've started Spiritfarer which has a pretty awesome game loop. I looked up how long to beat and they say 25 hours. Not sure the hook is great enough to sustain that length of game, but then I am only just starting. I't'll probably consume my gaming time for the rest of the month. What sort of game is it? Animal Crossing meets Harvest Moon meets Wind Waker, with some light platforming elements and an intriguing narrative with good character development.
That said, I didn't really enjoy it. Those moments were cool, and I enjoyed the music, but the game got repetitive and boring very quickly. I kind of put it in the category of "experience" more than "game."
I've also been streaming it, and absolutely embarrassed myself while I played. Towards the very end you have to do a vertical climb and beat two of the bad guys to your number one dime. I managed to get the dime, and then I put my controller down and kind of relaxed and started talking to the camera and the people who were watching. I'd forgotten that unlike the NES version, this is not the very end. You still have to climb up a little bit more as lava fills up from below.
Well, by the time I realized that was still going on it was too late. And my audience got to see me look like a complete idiot. Most of them did not hang around to watch me try again.
How many audience members did you have?
Thanks again for sending me the PS3 version; I really enjoyed it and think of you every time I see it on the shelf. I don't remember it being difficult, but it's been a long time.
I love how active this site has been this week. Very enjoyable.
One of the things that I've had to accept with streaming games is the ones that attract the biggest audience are usually the ones I'm not super interested in playing. The pokémon games always bring in an audience. On the other hand, I tried to play one of the Shantae the games, and I don't think I had anyone even pop in to watch for a minute. Super Mario Land DX was a nice happy medium though. I like that and kept on average about a half dozen viewers, which for what I'm doing is not half bad.
Well I am glad that I was able to get it to you and that you enjoyed it.
And I don't remember struggling that much with it the first time I played it either. I know I've joked about getting old and not being able to play as well, but I think this is actually a sign that it's not really a joke anymore. Between some carpal tunnel syndrome, slower reflexes, and worse vision, I think this is going to be the new norm for me.
Diablo 4 is in development for Switch 2 and there was a teardown of Switch 2 joycons which showed hall effect sticks.

Thankfully I've travelled a lot.
You have to think that you need everyday entertainment, the cost of Switch 2 won't even cover the cost of a full week overseas vacation for one person.
I've started to see travel as an enjoyable but wasteful luxury. Travel costs are also so much higher now post covid.
You look after the residents on the ship, expand your ship. Map the seas and visit different islands. There's platforming and some "boss" like encounters. Just remember you don't have to cook elaborate meals each day. A piece of fruit usually does the job. And you can swap between a fruit and something else on odd days.
Good series, very like Lost or Wayward Pines. Hoping it all makes sense in the end.
Um, what? I have no idea what any of those are.
You must have heard of Lost? One of the best tv shows I've ever seen, once you make it past the boring season 1.
Wayward Pines was cool, I think it was directed or produced by M. Night Shalaman, set in a weird controlled town where monsters would break through at night.
"From" has links to the Lost producers/writers. People get stuck in this town where monsters come out at night to kill them, but there's a deep mystery and story to it. Ghosts and more. Each season is 10 episodes so it's easy to watch.
Wayward Pines is a bit better, but From is not far behind.
Oh yeah. Know about Lost and did watch that. Totally slipped my mind.
Fox made Wayward Pines, should be on Disney Plus?
---
Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileDon’t have Disney Plus currently. Been thinking of getting it for a bit to check it out.
I restarted playing it again myself last weekend. The amount of gameplay depth it has is impressive.
Oh yes, a Police Academy marathon on AMC.
