Agree. I still struggle to see the difference between PS4 and PS5 visuals. I miss the excitement that I had for a new console cycle.

Not excited about Switch 2, but then again, I wasn't excited about the Series X and still got one.

If third party publishers take Switch 2 at least as seriously as Switch, especially for older ports, then I can imagine it being owned as the primary or even the sole console by many people.

In terms of AAA it seems it's going to be supported far better than Switch 1.

You've got a lot Square Enix and Microsoft games coming and it looks like Ubisoft and EA will be supporting it. Of course with Microsoft comes Bethesda and Activision support.

Indies have always been great on Switch, there's actually a lot of PC and Switch games that are console exclusive I wasn't even aware of before.

It will be my primary console as I can't be bothered with multiple units anymore and I like the flexibility of a portable with tv support.

Matt Again is a developer on Famiboards who's been talking about Switch 2 without breaking NDA.

He says that porting from PS5 to Switch 2 will be easier than porting PS4 to Switch. He says its very capable and people will be suprised with the games it runs.

I really wish GTA6 would be on it, but GTA V didn't even come to switch.

I was pretty much thinking that I would pick up a Switch 2 on day one. I believe that may change. I've currently ordered tickets to a music festival in Charleston in April. Plus, getting debts down because I want to take the fam to Europe in about a year. I guess with age I value experiences than the material things. It has become my midlife crisis to want travel. Who knows? I may still pick it up on day one. Its more of a wait snd see for me now.

I think I'll be needing to decrease spending on hardware in the future and be a one-system guy. I'd really like Switch 2 to be that console. The main thing that's held me back from that has been Halo *grumbles at newer ones* and FromSoft games. Not to mention the Xbone library I built up. But Nintendo's better for kids, and it would be nice for everyone in the house to be satisfied.

If Sony would release Gran Turismo on PC, I'd seriously consider being a one system guy too. With the rising costs of hardware, having only one system would be ideal.

I'm already a one system gamer. I'm happy with one current system and a couple legacy ones (though technically all of my consoles are legacy ones now). I'll give Nintendo one last chance to win me over with the Switch 2, but if that doesn't do it, I'll be a Sony gamer here on out.

London and another visit to Paris, this time with the kids. I want to take them to Europe at least once. We almost went to London by Eurostar last time but changed our minds. I then want to plan trips across Europe with just the wife, Ireland, Scotland, Germany, Spain, Ita..hell, everywhere!  When is the best time to visit Belgium?

Any time is the best time to visit Belgium! Which is to say you've got just as much chance to hit a cold rainy spell regardless of the season. 😋

I'm PC + Nintendo for now. Nintendo makes enough unique games to make their consoles worth it, plus the daughter likes the content as well.  Sony and MS, now that they have essentially gone digital have edged me out as a customer. If I am going to spend my bandwidth on a game, it's going to be on PC because of the enduring backward compatibility.  If I want to play an indy game in 15 years, I don't want to have to figure out what platform I bought it for, what user name and password I had and rely on that hardware still working -- I'll just know that it's on my PC.

This weekend I am so close to finishing South Park: The Fractured But Whole. I am off tomorrow so maybe then.

Yup. PC has the ultimate backwards compatibility. If the powers that be won't make something BC, fans will.

What Playing. Not sure where I was up to last week but these are the games I've beaten in the last week:

Firewatch - first playthough. Glad I did? Not sure.

Doki Doki Literature Club - fist playthrough. An odd game that's for sure. Glad I played it though.

Aperture Desk Job - Nice peak into what Valve is capable of these days.

80 Days - A really stylish game that has a lot of complexity under the hood. I had some control issues with it on the Steam Deck.  Amazingly this is now a ten year old game!

I've started Spiritfarer which has a pretty awesome game loop.  I looked up how long to beat and they say 25 hours.  Not sure the hook is great enough to sustain that length of game, but then I am only just starting.  I't'll probably consume my gaming time for the rest of the month. What sort of game is it? Animal Crossing meets Harvest Moon meets Wind Waker, with some light platforming elements and an intriguing narrative with good character development.

you pretty much have the description there. It gets surprisingly emotional at times. At its core it's basically a floating hospice and at some point or another something is going hit close to home.

That said, I didn't really enjoy it. Those moments were cool, and I enjoyed the music, but the game got repetitive and boring very quickly. I kind of put it in the category of "experience" more than "game."

I'm trying to finish DuckTales, but god damned i'd forgotten how hard that final level is. I've tried six or seven times now and I've gotten close a few times but I can't quite do it.

I've also been streaming it, and absolutely embarrassed myself while I played. Towards the very end you have to do a vertical climb and beat two of the bad guys to your number one dime. I managed to get the dime, and then I put my controller down and kind of relaxed and started talking to the camera and the people who were watching. I'd forgotten that unlike the NES version, this is not the very end. You still have to climb up a little bit more as lava fills up from below.

Well, by the time I realized that was still going on it was too late. And my audience got to see me look like a complete idiot. Most of them did not hang around to watch me try again.

Thanks again for sending me the PS3 version; I really enjoyed it and think of you every time I see it on the shelf. I don't remember it being difficult, but it's been a long time.
