"Nintendo is losing their identity"
former PlayStation exec Shuhei Yoshida shares damning Switch 2 verdict "I was personally a bit disappointed."eurogamer.net SupremeAC
I'm having a blast playing through Super Mario Galaxy again. I wasn't going to try a playthrough but just a few stars. But the game is too good to put down. In just over twenty four hours I am about to complete it. Its one of those rare games that I wish I could forget everything about it and experience it for the first time again.
I've always been curious and now they are becoming more accessible to Nintendo platformers I might pick one up when cheap.
It's always looked like Shenmue with beat em up sections? Is that right?
Not really, Shenmue is a lot more adventure game like, investigating stuff. Yakuza is very much action beat em up like but with an open city to run around in. The fighting system is like a 3D beat em up, it gets better each game but you basically pick up objects around the world and bash people with them. Tons of mini games, fun side stories and things to do.
I got back into DMCV to play the SE stuff i never tried and man what a game! I beat the new legendary mode which adds like x10 the enemies, its like a crazy Warriros game. Vergil is OP as hell, so much fun to play as. This game is an action masterpiece.
I also started Blue Prince. Not so sure of the rogue aspects, much rather it just be a set world like witness or Lorelai. But im intrugued.

Yeah I did think it looked like a 3D beat em up.
Just discovered that my TV has VRR.
I didn't realise, I'd forgotten about its other specs too, 144hz, HDR, and its OLED. Feel like I'm set up for the next 8 years.
I was watching Doom Eternal on Steamdeck, I didn't realise how much more powerful Steamdeck was over Switch 1.
I knew in terms of teraflops, but the handheld presentation of Doom Eternal looked so good.
I really hope they update Switch Doom for Switch 2. I'd love to play it handheld at that kind of fidelity.
I've seen a lot of videos lately with people gushing over the Switch 2s screen quality.
Pretty amazed at how smooth, crisp and colourful it looks.
So I'm playing Greak Memories of Azur, during the game you walk past this Star Wars like buffalo creature the scouts ride in.
You see it several times in the base and I imagined how cool it would be if you could ride it.
I never expected them to actually do it, but later in the game you can. And they fall flat. You are auto running and have to jump or flip from foreground to background.
How sad. If you could ride it like the Rhino in DKC or even like Warriors of Fate it could have been awesome.
^ regarding those shit tons of money, I wonder how well Switch2 will sell. It'll undoubtly sell very fast during the launch period, but I wonder if it'll keep selling after the core gamers have all bought one. Inflation is all good and well, but I feel the Switch2 will be too expensive for parents to go out and buy one, let alone more, for their kids. And yeah, often the argument is made that a lot of kids these days carry around iPhone's and iPads, but those are often handdowns from when the parents themselves overspend on the latest iTat. It'll do good, but I don't see it selling Switch numbers.
On the matter of what might impact their sales I'm not buying the argument that handheld PC's will undermine Switch2. No matter what anyone wants to pretend, handheld PC's are a very niche product and in no way pose any serious competition for Nintendo. Same goes for rumours about PS or Xbox handhelds. Sure, they have brand recognition on their side as Nintendo does, but it's not like those will be able to provide more bang for your buck. Sony and MS will come up against the same technical and economical limitations as Nintendo. People seem to think that Sony could magically squeeze a PS5 in a Switch like formfactor, but that's just plain dillusional.

I'm thinking it will be lucky to sell half of S1, which is still pretty darn good.
So how many consoles does Nintendo have to sell in order for the Switch 2 to be considered a success?
I'd say a console needs to sell 60 million units to be considered succesfull. But this being the Switch2, it'll need at least 100 million or people will say it was a dud when compared to the Switch.
I looked up lifetime console sales on Wikipedia and was surprised to see that the Quest 2 has sold about 20 million units.
Hey Sup I saw you in the comments section in a Eurogamer article.
I can't be bothered arguing with randoms online anymore.
Digital Foundry is facing a big backlash ATM online over their insistence on insisting Switch 2 is a PS4 like experience.
It is quite strange at times given what we know and they're making all sorts of weird comparisons.
I think the problem for them is that we already have proper comparison videos with series S and Ps5.
We may not know the TDP and radterisation, but we all have eyes. We can tell what looks better to us.
You can't change that opinion with technical puffery. I think DF takes what they think they know about the hardware and it frames their whole opinion of what a game will look like. Alex was actually getting reamed on ResetEra because he was genuinely shocked on the backlash given Switch 2s power draw wattage wtf.
So the Oblivion remake looks just like Skyrim? The lack of bloom is disturbing. I'll stick the the original. I liked that Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim all had their own unique look.
I'm surprised that Roblox hasn't made it to a Nintendo console yet.

"We're making sh*it tons of money!" --Doug Bowser, probably.

Good to see the $80 lunacy isn't the new standard.

I still think Nintendo is thinking MK is a once in a generation (or two) game that justifies the price tag.
So how many consoles does Nintendo have to sell in order for the Switch 2 to be considered a success?
GG, I will get it so we can co-op together.
Maybe when Animal Crossing comes.
Animal Crossing Worlds, where your town seamlessly borders into your friends towns. And we conduct mass tree massacres.

I think I read somewhere that US Switch 2 preorders begin on May 9. Can anyone confirm? I can’t seem to find the article.
But likely the same. Now they also found info for April 30th for preorders.
Gamestop are getting 100 per store so I wouldn't worry.
I want one from Gamestop so that I can use my trade in credit
