That’s according to the previously reliable Podcast Nate the Hate, which claims that a reveal trailer planned by Nintendo will focus on the Switch 2 hardware, with a software showcase coming later in late February or early March.
“I can share with you that Nintendo Switch 2 will be revealed in the coming week… I have been told Switch 2 will be revealed on Thursday, January 16… just a few days from now,” they said.
“I’ve heard that the reveal itself is going to focus almost exclusively on the console itself. There is not going to be any presence of games. There could be a game shown running on the screen, depending on how the trailer is put together, but software is not going to be a focus.”
The two-part reveal plan would align with how Nintendo showed the original Nintendo Switch, and match with what VGC has been told
Nate the Hate speculates that Switch 2 could launch in May or June of this year – which matches with what VGC has heard from its own sources – and that a new version of Mario Kart could be available at launch, followed by a 3D Mario released during the holiday period of 2025.
Third-party releases will reportedly include Final Fantasy 7 Remake. According to Nate the Hate, Ubisoft is planning to release Assassin’s Creed Mirage for Switch 2, and Konami will port Metal Gear Sold Delta.
Update: Eurogamer has corroborated the January 16th reveal date, as well as info that the reveal will be “a focus on the much-leaked console itself, rather than a deep dive into its software line-up”.

Made a Switch 2 thread for Thursdays reveal
Yeah it was one of the least appealing part of the game. They wanted no HUD evidently so pulling up the map and compass constantly, which took you out of the game, was in my mind a lessor alternative.
The streaming part is really easy, but yeah I also have not invested the time in figuring out the forum like chat side of it. It must work, millions of people use and prosper from it. I use it for the podcast which is really quite usefull and easy. I was hoping that in the unlikely event this place falls apart technically (like browsers banning unsecured sites) that would be the alternative, as that is where most community forums have ended up. But not sure what the feasible adoption rate would be ... I may have to set up a forum at gameunder if that happened for all us old timers who cannot figure out discord or don't want to rely on the whims of corporate overlords.
I agree. though I think the piece of the pie this time around for Nintendo will be smaller.
