Speaking of GameStop, I drove by my local one last night and they are closed for good. End of an era, I suppose since more people are going all digital.

I have two GameStops left within about a 10 mile radius of me. One of them is now in our mall, that more or less switched over to being a community center, and I don't think I've seen a person inside the store in a year. Not a real surprise though, because it doesn't seem like they ever have any games. It's almost like a Funko Pop and t-shirt store now.

Interestingly though, there are three retro/ mom and pop video game stores within that same radius. It's kind of funny how game stores have come full circle in that regard.

I really wanted to get Donkey Kong from gsmestop because I was gonna trade in games for about $45 worth of credit.

I'm enjoying Mario Wonder a lot more than when I first bought it after release. It's still such an odd game, though. Half platformer/puzzle game and half acid trip.

Heh, I didn't know you could trade in games at a Funko Pop store. Nyaa

The PSN outage is a curious what if for me. I had spent the prior weeks getting into Killzone 3 and really enjoying it. The outage happened and I kind of never went back, and not too long after, started on StarCraft 2 and that became my life for a few years.

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobile

That reminds me. I bought StarCraft 1 Remastered late last year. I want to play though that one soon.

The outage is directly responsible for me playing Little Big planet and getting into that. I don't think I ever would have purchased it on my own, but Sony was pretty generous and as part of their apology they gave us all two games. I picked that and Infamous. That was definitely worth it for 60 days without online gaming.

I finished the FF16 dlc which I bought and forgot to play. The big leviathan dlc was really good. Adds two new skill trees and has a nice new area and bosses. Plus it comes with a fun bloody palace like mode. FF16 is still a blast, great action game, not sure how it is as an RPG.

oh and I'm going through RE4 remake VR mode. What a blast, probably the best VR game out there.

as you can tell I paused metaphor, no clue if I'll go back and finish it.

I really want to try that! Unfortunately, VR still makes me feel sick except for GT7.

I'm tempted to buy A Boy and his Blob after reading the discussion about it. Is it a remake of the NES game or brand new adventure?

I think you would file this one under the category of a "reimagining." It's the same basic plot and has the same core feature of feeding jelly beans to the blob to get past obstacles. I think that's where the similarities end.

I hate to say it, but I've really never liked any of the DKC games. The original was interesting enough, but that's the only one I've ever completed. I gave up halfway through Returns, and I don't think I made it to the third world on Tropical Freeze before putting it aside.

I don't know what it is that I'm missing, but I've just never been able to really get into them.

Well, I'm well ans truly stuck in The Library of Babel.

It's a 2D platformer/rpg adventure game with no map.

What do you do when you're stuck in a niche game where no guide exists?

I've tried the Steam community and there's been a couple of useful tidbits.

But nothing for where I'm stuck. I have 6 useless items I can't do anything with. There's are hidden items in the environment with no clue or way to find them.

The actual "hidden" items you can use a device like radar to find. That works, but it doesn't work for normal items.

I have a key card for an area behind another area I can't access.

I desperately need a screwdriver and have no clue where it is.

It's such a shame that the game doesn't have a proper map and a way to lead or hint to the locations of game required items.

Its really enjoyable up to the point you get stuck. I even decoded this item and when I brought it back to the Matriarch, a sentient super computer, they don't even acknowledge the item or tell me what it's for.

I think I know, the controls are not perfect. At least in DKCR. A lot of actions require the same button, but used differently depending on if you use the joystick and it can certainly cause some confusion and a lot of accidental deaths. I think all four main buttons need to be used for a different action, jumping, blowing, smashing objects, rolling (not trying to describe bedroom activities here).

Maybe it's possible to reconfigure the buttons but I haven't checked yet.

I got the Final Fantasy 16 dlc wish listed. Waiting for a sale to pick it up and play it. Did really enjoy the game.

Got Metaphor sitting on my shelf waiting to be played. Not sure when I’ll get to it. Monster Hunter Wilds hits in a week so it’ll be all hands on that game for awhile.

DKC 3 was the only one in the series I straight up didn't like.

I initially did not like playing as Diddy Kong in the original DKC; I only wanted to play through the game with Donkey Kong, but like Tails in Sonic 2, I eventually grew to like the character.

I need to play through DKC 1&2 again soon.

Well I guess my only option to progress in The Library of Babel is to watch a 4 hour long youtube playthrough with no timestamps.

I just watched 2 hours of it at 2x speed.

Still another 2 hours to go. Ugh

You may have seen that T-Prime addeded at his annual game list, and unfortunately included the apostrophe of doom in the URL. So here is the direct link. I've done like good deed for the year. I can now go back to being a cranky old man.

George is getting upset!

Now I've used every square inch of the Switch hdd and all my memory cards, I don't even have enough room to shuffle things around.

I used to leave a fair chunk free on the HDD to copy and move stuff between cards.
