Yeah, I bought it. But let me explain in this review!

I know what you guys are thinking. "Why the hell would he pay $30 for a bunch of maps!?" I know, it looks bad. But I kind of had to. My friends who I game with all wanted me to get it since we've been playing lately. They needed one more guy in their party. I was reluctant, but, oh well, I gave in. I thought to myself, I wasted $30 on stupid things before like some DS and PSP games for example. So a few maps didn't feel like that much of a deal after that. Anyway, it was a rip-off, but since I got both the Stimulus and Resurgence map packs, might as well write a brief impression and review of them. Here goes. I'll keep it simple and to the point. The maps are too expensive, but the new content is really good. The 6 new maps you get are very well designed. It really shows that Infinity Ward didn't just cash-in here, but each map is carefully crafted with a lot of detail and tactical spots. I think they're some of the best multiplayer maps I've seen in FPS shooters. Yes, I mean that with all my heart, and that's not just a lie to myself to justify my $30 purchase! With that said, that's where the second half of the map packs come in that make this a total rip-off: the 4 original maps from the first Modern Warfare. I know these are still good maps, but since I played through them a million times with the original, I really didn't care about playing them again. It's still cool to have at least 4 more maps in the MW2 line-up but I can't help being disappointed...and cheated. Like I said many times before, I'd have no problems with the $15 pricing IF each map pack had all new maps. As mentioned, the new content is good, but because almost half of the DLC is recycled content, that's why it's hard for me to recommend to anyone. But if you have nagging friends who all want you to play with them and to get the maps...oh well, I guess that's the blessing and curses of gaming in this generation. I gave it at least a 7.0 because I'll be pouring in a lot of hours online. I guess I will get my money's worth, but damn $30 is expensive, damn Activision! |

It's your money man, as long as it makes you happy.
With the older maps, I am guessing one of the reasons they included those is for players who like to play on the very highest levels of competition no? Or for regular clans who play the hell out of it and liek the familiarity of the old maps?
