FUCK I lost my review. So now you get the short short version. Same shit different game. Level design mostly boring, few standout levels. NSMB is getting boring, it will never be as good as the old Mario games.

Still has perfect controls and platforming. Challenge mode makes this game worth playing as it challenges you in all sorts of interesting ways. Its better than the main game honestly. Loads of content and it looks really nice graphically. Its still a great game but this franchise deserves so much better.

I would give it the same score but be a little more positive in the review. They need new worlds and art, it needs to be the Mario Galaxy of 2d mario games.

I had somewhat of a revelation today with NSMB Wii U today. Probably one that many others have had before. A friend of mine came over today and we played it together for a good 3 or 4 hours. I've already beat the main game, but he and I went after some of the Star Road levels as well as some of the harder to get Star coins.

After we played it sort of hit me. To accurately review this game you must include the multiplayer. It's kind of like CoD in that regard. The main game is fun, solid, but not overly spectacular. However when you take it into multi-player everything changes. EVERYTHING. You can pull off completely different moves, and getting creative allows you to access areas that normally you can only go to with the exact power-up that the devs planned.

And the more I think about it, the more it's almost unfair to compare it to classic Mario games. This game is actually meant for multiple audiences. This is designed for almost anyone to be able to complete by themselves, but still offers up supreme challenges in Challenge Mode, and offers a completely different experience in multiplayer.
