Walking Dead Season 2 picks off where the last one ended now with Clementine as the central character. The last season had her prepped to be able to take care of her own in this zombie apocalypse, so much so that it seems everyone needs her help. Season 2 is not as well done as the first but it still has elements that make the walking dead so compelling. The game part is almost non existent. Even the first season had some of those moments that were on a loop and you had to find the right actions to get out, this doesn't even have that. You rarely get to explore and exploration is nothing but looking at a few objects. You have items but never have the option to try things on your own, the item gets used when it has too. At this point anything that made this an adventure game is gone and it is simply an interactive story where you get to make choices to change the story. Normally that would drive me crazy but I love the walking dead. I really loved the characters in the first. It is compelling to be able to be put into classic walking dead scenarios and have to make difficult choices. This seasons best moments where when you had a central big bad, like a governor like character, it reminded me of a lot of the moments the show had. Choices have immediate impact but in the long run you still basically end up where you are supposed to. The ride itself is worth it though for any Walking Dead fan. The story does not have that emotional core that the first have, there is no bond like what Lee and Clementine. It never reaches those emotional highs, instead this is darker and more concerned about hard moral choices, do you leave the weak person to die for the better of the group? Do you kill someone because they are emotionally unstable. Do you trust anyone? It has good characters and moments but its kind of strange how Clementine is the focus of so much of what is happening. They treat her like a Yoda, everyone asks her opinion and she some how gets picked to do every activity. Its not horribly blatant as many times they know she is a kid but its noticeable. Walking Dead Season 2 is a disappointment if you expect a story as emotional as the first. Telltale hit gold with that first season, they couldn't replicate it. It is still Walking Dead though and like the show even a bad season of the show is still really good compared to many other shows. If you want to continue with the story of Clementine I say its worth it. |

I liked it. It was a slight step behind the original but still good stuff.
