We often think of software in terms of what we can use once we're actually within an Operating System looking to perform a task unrelated to the computer itself.  Overlooked in this equation is all that goes on external the OS, such as the harddrive function, the bootloader or BIOS.

Screenshot of Ultimate Boot

Ultimate Boot is a bootable image that contains an array of boot maintenance programs for all sorts of such issues.  Here are just a small sample of available programs within:

  • 12 Partition Managers
  • 5 Boot Managers
  • 9 Boot Disks
  • 14 Harddrive Diagnostics Tools
  • 4 BIOS tools

And there's plenty more.  Just recently I used it to restore the GRUB bootloader after installing the Windows 7 BETA.

It's easy to plan for when everything's normal, but that's not when planning's important.  Having the available tools at your disposal when it's time for mass recovery, you want to be ready.  Ultimate Boot is a must.
