So my free Office 365 Home 1 year subscription I received with my Surface Pro2 tablet expires on Saturday. It's been a good year of free office usage on the go (see my earlier blog post on how I got my Surface Pro2), but the time has come to give in the Microsoft and their dastardous ways and actually pay them for the software they're creating.
So I bought a Linx 7 tablet with one year free Office 365 personal included. Basically the cheapest full windows tablet on the market, setting me back €78. The only setback is that it's a Personal edition, meaning I can only install it on one PC. I was going to meddle around with it, pretty confident I could manage to somehow transfer the licence from the Linx to my Surface, leaving me with a read-only version of Office on the Linx. Even better yet: MS gave me the option to opt for 9 months of Home, meaning I can i stall this on up to 5 PC's. So that's €90 worth of Office, right there, meaning I got a free tablet thrown into the bargain. For the asking price it's actually a pretty decent piece of hardware and I intend to use it to turn my tv into a smartTV, with access to my data, the internet, netflix, Steam inhome streaming and whatnot. Might also keep it for my son when we're out and about. Will also be using it as testing grounds for a free windows 10 upgrade. Or do all of that...
So bring on end of April 2016, and more cheap Win tablets! 8)
Read that as free full wine. Congrats, man.
Enjoy the free 100% alcohol wine, mate.
Small victory! I still don't have a tablet.
Small victory indeed. I'll send you one in 9 months when my Office subscription expires.
