Well 2010 was a very strange year for me in terms of gaming. I had the unfortunate event of my PS3 breaking down on me mid year which completely through off my normal playing habits. It also did not help that I am in really bad money trouble. At least I have a great family and for Christmas I got a new PS3 and enough games to keep me busy for a long time. 2011 should be an up year, it better be a damn up year cause I dont want to go any lower than last.

My playing habits changed from play as many new games as possible to play old games that I never finished or simply play old favorites. The Wii became my system of choice cause it was the working one. I still maintain that it is a fine secondary system to have but a bad primary, I felt so left out this past year. Last year I completed an insane 102 games, you can see the full breakdown here. This year it was a far more modest 59 games finished and approx. 997 hours playing.

I beat lots of Wii games obviously. I played far more games like the PS2 games this year, of course cause my PS3 broke. I finally had time to play DS, 7 games beat, very nice.

Woah I did not finish one FPS (no Red Steel 2 is not a FPS, its a sword game with shooting), how is that possible this day in age. As always Action/adventure is my main genre and it always will be. It was a platforming revival this year, I loved it. I finished 5 RPGs that is very impressive for me. Not one fighting game, thank god. :P

This was Sonics year, I replayed a ton of Sonic games and finished a bunch of new ones. Metroid got some play cause of Other M. I had the Kain playthrough which was nice, I really want a new one. I played a few Zelda games, I expect this year to have a few more finished. Last year RE was my most played franchise, this year I only had one RE game beat, that will change this coming year.

For the first time in two years Capcom is not my most played, they dropped to just 2 games beaten. Sega wins mostly cause of Sonic, Nintendo had the most variety of games. As always I sway toward the Japanese developers more than others.

Now normally I would have a GOTY award post but since I played so few 2010 games I will wait till I finish a lot more before I do my 2010 GOTY awards.
