I guess we all have a few games that we haven't tried, maybe even whole franchises. Despite being good or great games, we haven't got the chance to play them, whatever the reason.

I missed a lot of games. Some of them are fairly inconsequential because I'm not that interested in them, like the Metroid series, or 3D Zelda games. Considering my particular tastes, missing some other games is an unforgivable mistake, such as the Homeworld games, Diablo II, HoMM III and V, Civ IV, Silent Hill 2 and 3, MGS 2(sorta).

Today I had the chance to correct a bit of that, and picked up the Grand Theft Auto Trilogy. GTA III, Vice City and San Andreas, in one PC package. Never played GTA III nor Vice City, and only played with SA for about 10 hours or so.

For an impulse buy, I'm proud of this one.

Never played Street Fighter or God of War.

Don't really feel like I'm missing out in the slightest. Happy

From the things you've mentioned there haven't played Diablo, any HoMM games, or Civ.

Don't really have much of a desire to play any of them etiher, except for Diablo. Nyaa

How do you know you wont like these games till you try them? You're missing out on a lot with zelda and metroid for instance. Ocarina was, still is? The most critically acclaimed game of all time? You have platforms that can play these games, why not pick up Twilight Princess and try? Even Metroid Prime was one of the most critically acclaimed games out there, probably still in the top ten.

I didn't say I won't like them, just that I'm not too interested in trying them. Eventually, I might, but as of now, they're not priorities in my gaming schedule.

If I had a console that I dont presently have I would go out and buy the best games for it, ones I had missed to see what all the fuss was about.

I couldn't help myself, I guess that's why I can't understand some of your lack of feeling for adventure games like Zelda/metroid. You don't dislike the genre right?

Dunno. I like the Metroidvanias, but in each and everyone of them, after a while, the ever-present backtracking annoys me to no end, and even when I finish the game, I feel no urge to ever replay it. If I was forced to choose, as much as I love SotN, I would rather pick the old-school stage-based CV titles over the metroidvanias.

And about Zelda, I played the first couple for a bit, but the puzzles drove me off, tried LttP before reaching the very same conclusion. I've never finished a Zelda game, hell i've never made past the first half of any Zelda game. Can't recall games I've played and liked with a similar structure.

I am the exact same with those two series. I've made it half-way through the original Zelda, OoT (twice) and Phantom Hourglass.  And then I get sick of it.

The only Metroid I beat was Metroid 2 probably because it is the only one that is linear (no back-tracking).

I like linear gameplay, that's probably why I never got into Zelda or Metroid.

Prime 3 might be good for you then. The levels are segmented so backtracking isn't as pronounced as it is in the other games.

Zelda 1 and 2 suck. LTTP is fairly hard I guess in puzzle terms.

I think things are addressed with Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, the games are more balanced and easier for the modern gamer. Twilight Princess would be the starting point as its the best all around version, balanced for difficulty and a bit more modern.

I've never touched a Metal Gear game.  I really couldn't care less though. I like my games fantasy, and guns and modern day soldiers just don't do it for me.

i hadn't played a MGS game until a couple of years ago when i played the original PS1 version on my PSP.  i enjoyed the game a great deal and it's changed my perception of the series significantly.

the most popular series i have never been able to enjoy is GTA i guess (with chinatown wars DS being the single exception).  i always end up buying them (i bought all 3 PS2 games, both PSP games, GTAIV on ps3 ... and i see myself buying the 2 expansions when released for ps3) only to realise that i can't bring myself to enjoy it much. Sad

How depressing for aspro if he's only completed 2, and then he moves onto 3.

Yikes.
