I don't know if you've been following Resolutiongate but it's absurd and hilarious. This is where the non-stop dick measuring has gotten us. I'm guilty of being caught in rapture by this hilarious, absurd yet grotesque side show. Over the years the "hardcore" Call of Duty console graphics whore has become so obssessed with graphical superiority that it doesn't even matter if a game is mediocre: like COD Ghosts seems to be. It doesn't even matter if we're still receiving yearly updates of well worn and somewhat stale franchises. All that matters is the bean counting.

What resolution is it? How many shader cores? What's the ALU?

What's the bandwidth of the RAM? This RAM is shitty and slow, even if they never actually notice a difference from what's on screen, the core use this information as a spear, stabbing at their prey and rubbing their hands in self satisfied smugness.

I laugh, a lot of this, poor Microsoft. Even though Ghosts runs better on their system compared to the iffy framerate on PS4, it's the resolution that matters. MS have been the recent fall guy - Nintendo doesn't even really factor into it, they were and still are the whipping boy but now the focus is on MS.

And what of Sony? Their hardware "superiority" is largely a result of conservatism, lack of imagination and luck. While the competition was innovating in interface, Sony's decision to just make another straight upgrade meant they had more cash for the insides, they've done nothing particularly special, taken no particular risks and yet are reaping the applause of the hardcore audience for doing just want they want and nothing more. And they lucked out on RAM prices, it was going to have 4GB RAM but a RAM price crash let it double that amount.

And this COD resolotiongate is not the end, not by a long shot. Expect more games, more differences and more mockery - for we are gamers, a big bunch of losers still caught in the system wars.

I await the next Digital Foundry comparison video - bring it.

Yeah, if the frame rate issues include the multiplayer, I don't see why anyone would buy the PS4 version over the Xbox One version.

I find it odd, and somewhat depressing, that CoD of all games is the one chosen by people to bitch about in regards to graphics. Not even downsampled would it look good.

The title of this blog is very misleading. Hrm *puts away measuring tape*

I feel kinda proud of myself to have been completely oblivious to this.

But which console wobbles less?

Another funny observation, Nintendo issues no comment on specs. MS's Penello got himself into a pissing match with GAF and Digital Foundry and came off with egg on his face. Feel sorry for the guy.

The only thing that makes the PS4 superior in my mind is that Sony has done far less shady business practices than MS has.
Other than that, hardware wise there's hardly big enough of a difference to matter.
