The social commentary and messaging was a little heavy-handed and I'm sure that'll turn a few people off. Personally I prefer it when things are a little more subtle and people can become enlightened on their own, but I get why they decided subtlety wasn't going to work for this. Probably the right choice at the end of the day.
Lots of fun action sequences, great cameos and one thing I enjoyed is how they are making some bold choices with the characters that they didn't try to do in the comics. This show is forging a very new path for the MU and things are going to get a bit more unpredictable for a long time comic fans. That's a good thing.
Finished the last season of Castlevania. It's nicely done and the grand finale is sufficiently videogame-y.
Since it sounds like they're going to continue the series but use other games/generations I will be curious to see where they go next. Do they go chronologically and do Simon's story (which would probably be the least interesting of all of them), do they go further back and start with lament of Innocence and Leon (I think that's the official start of the belmonts these days). Or do they go off into the future with Soma and the Aria/Dawn of Sorrow stories. That could potentially be a good way to address the Battle of 1999 that most fans are still waiting for.

We saw the last Episode of Stone and Bone yesterday. It was horrible. It was clear from the first episode that the writers weren't very gifted and most actors were not very convincing to say the least. And about 3 episodes in I began to suspect even something more dreadfull: that this was a series forged from a book series written for googly eyed teenagers. I was right. 
It was some of the most predictable, sugar coated, trite garbage I have ever seen. I don't know if it was par for the course when compared to other series and movies aimed at this demographic as I intend to avoid those, but I sincerely hope that actual teenagers and young adolescents are equally appalled and insulted by the series as I was.
We started Ted Lasso and it is hilarious. I've read reviews where people said it's very optimistic and heartwarming, do I stayed away thinking it may be too sugary sweet. I was wrong. It's a perfect mix of heartwarming snd realistic. I love that Ted is secretly the smartest guy in the room.
I also want to give a hearty recommendation to Mr. Robot. I don't want to spoil a thing, so I'll just say it's only four seasons long and is on Prime. Fantastic series from start to finish.
1. Housebound - this is a black comedy/horror movie out of New Zealand, and one of the best things I've seen in a while. Premise is a woman is sentenced to house arrest with her mom, and it turns out the house may very well be haunted. It's got shades of Peter Jackson's dead alive, which is a wonderfully over the top bloody horror movie if you haven't seen that.
2. The Color Out of Space - this is one of three lovecraftian movies I sunk my teeth in and, it's not going to be for everyone but it's not bad. Nicolas Cage is playing his over the top version of himself and he's outstanding. Real good creepy story. If I have a complaint, it's that the ending was a bit of a cop out.
4. In the Mouth of Madness - I think this was John Carpenter's last good movie. Again this is a lovecraftian horror movie, and absolutely masterfully paced. One of those movies that builds so well that you get mad when it's over. Plus, Samuel is a badass.
5. The Void - this was my last of the three Lovecraft movies I watched, and without question the worst of the bunch. Started out really strong, but at the halfway mark when the story changes to the other worldly, it takes a dramatic hit and evolves into a nearly unwatchable mess.
6. Mayhem - this was a great surprise. It's sort of a cross between Office Space and Battle Royale. There's a virus outbreak that causes everyone's brain to shut off any empathy, shame, and feelings like that and really only leaves the more animal instinct present. So it's essentially a violent orgy in an office building while a mid-level manager has to make his way up to the top floor to speak to the board of directors. Good stupid phone right here. Sam Raimi fans will enjoy.
I watched 'the Mitchels agains the Machines'. I have a soft spot for CGI animation movies à la dreamworks or pixar. It was pretty enjoyable and strangely relatable. It's a road trip-coming of age-save humanity product of its time. It's stupid fun, but fun nontheless.
The graphical style appealed to me as well. There were hints of Borderlands in some of the texturework and slight touches of cell shading around the characters. I love how we've come to a point where basically anything is possible and people are just experimenting with what's possible to come up with a unique visual style.
So the show is now called Leverage: Redemption, and it doesn't seem to be quite as good as the original. Timothy Hutton did not return and is acting and presence are definitely missed. The dialogue is pretty rough at times too. However, the plots are still very good so the individual stories are a lot of fun to watch if you like heist shows. Happy to see it's back. I'm sure like the original it will get a little stale after two or three seasons, but I will enjoy it for now.
Seemed to make sense back then and even more so today.

There's this street where one of my clients lives that's called 'Golden Rain Street'. I wonder what went through the minds of the people who decided on the naming of the street. Did they have a chuckle too, or were they really that ignorant?
