So...I followed Yoda's advice to jump in a few blitz matches (blitz chess is an extremely fast form of chess that grants only a small amount of time to players to make their moves, with either no or very small time increments after each move ranging in the seconds). Ooh boy. Did I get my ass kicked.

I should have prefaced that by saying what time controls. You'd want around 10-15 minute games, or 5+5. Some people like playing bullet chess, which is just stupid, in my opinion.
