Back to the future - Superman is great but I like BTTF more. It is simply a theme that creates instant wonder it sends my mind into thoughts of time traveling, sci fi stuff in general. It is so damn powerful, very few movies make me want to hear a theme more than BTTF. I just finsihed the game and every time that theme played it made the scene so much better.
Indiana Jones - I think when you think movie themes, Indiana Jones has to pop up almost instantly. Is there a more perfect theme to a movie, a theme that plays so perfectly with a film.

Rocky

Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileRocky because it's hilarious.
Superman because it will piss off Vader.

At least tell us why.
I think Superman is iconic and the tune evokes the ultimate heroic spirit. There's nobility and mystery, a sense of stepping up to the plate. BTTF is fun, but Supermans theme is timeless and pretty epic too.
I love Indiana Jones music but Rocky is just........ eh............
It captures the time and place and the sense of an underdog having the ultimate one shot change. It's about having the belief in ones self and triumphing against the odds and the strong will of trying to change yourself, your life through struggle. Indy again is a fun tune, but Rockys music seems more meaningful.

Wow very good reasons.
I'm only voting for the one that I have a cover of on my computer. All of those were overrated poop.
Listen to Iced Earth and play Doom
I think we should do some modern movie themes in a thread to show what tunes we like.
After this thread.

We are at the end of the tournament, right now its Back to the Future vs Superman and Indiana Jones vs Rocky. Pick a winner for each match, this is for the best movie theme song.

This includes all themes even modern. no one nominated anything. Plus modern themes are terrible I cant recall one memorable one in the last few years, I guess Inception just cause that thing gets in your brain.

I don't mean like for voting or particularly popular stuff. There are lots of good films with decent soundtracks and themes, not neccesarily hollywood stuff though.
I like this tune for instance.

+1
I thought I wrote a whole buig post and voted in here.
I'm not going to re-write it all.
BTTF
Rocky.
Well here we are the final four movie themes. In this thread we are choosing the finals and then once that is set we will vote for the champion in this same thread. Lets see the finalists:
Back to the Future theme
Composed by: Alan Silvestri
Silvestri is best known for his team ups with Robert Zemeckis, who is of course the director of the BTTF movies. He was nominated for two Acadamy Awards including one for the score of Forrest Gump. His latest work is being heard by every single person on this planet as he did the score for The Avengers. But his most famous work will forever be the incredible epic theme he created for the all time classic Back to the Future films.
The Back to the Future theme came about when Steven Spielberg did not like the score for Romancing the Stone, the previous Zemeckis film with Silvestri. Well Zemeckis told Silvestri to go all out and create as big a theme as possible even though BTTF is really a small movie. The result is movie magic, I think it is impossible to think of BTTF without that theme, the movie would not be the same at all.
Superman Fanfare
Composed by John Williams
No introduction needed, the greatest film composer of all time. No one even comes close to creating as many enduring instantly recognizable themes as John Williams. He is best known for his collaborations with Steven Spielberg and of course Star Wars. Another composer was supposed to compose Superman but he dropped out, thankfully. John Williams stepped in and created what I think is easily the best superhero theme of all time. Williams did not compose any other Superman movies but every film has used his theme.
Raiders March
Composed by John Williams
Here he is again with one of his most recognizable themes ever, the Raider's March. Can you imagine where Indiana Jones would be without this theme. It is the perfect marriage of a movie and it's theme. This theme started off as two different themes, Williams couldn't decide which to use so he asked Spielberg and Spielberg loved both so much that he told Williams to combine the two and thus the theme was made. His score for Raiders earned him another Acadamy Award nomination, of which he has 47 nominations, the most all time behind Walt Disney, he has won 5 of those awards.
"Gonna Fly Now"
Composed by Bill Conti
Bill Conti is best known for his scores for the Rocky films. He scored movies like The Karate Kid and Masters of the Universe but not many. He has compsed themes for TV shows like Dynasty. He is an Acadamy Award winning composer but "Gonna Fly Now" was only nominated for best song, it did not win. Which is a shame cause few songs are as long enduring as Rocky's theme. This theme has become THE universal excersise song. Everywhere, when someone is needs a playlist to workout "gonna fly now" has to be in that playlist. It is played in sporting events around the world, easily the greatest sports movie theme of all time.
Good job guys, that is a very solid final four, time to vote:
