Im glad my brother is getting this so I can borrow it from him, it looks kinda shit to be honest.
And this is coming from someone who thought RE5 was the best thing since an ice cream sammich. I suppose I'll have to wait till I actually play it first but I wouldn't have bought this one on my own.
I just watched the Conan review that the gif is from.
Amazing...and his voice sounded completely different on the podcast. Also when I returned at first there was a lot of groaning, and I thought you were watching porn. Then you burst out laughing, and i was sure you were.
I played the Leon part. Meh. It's boring corridor after boring corridor in dark, can't-see-shit environments with loosey aiming while shooting the same zombie over and over again. Yay!
I predict Capcom begs Shinji Mikami to come back & work on Resident Evil 7.

Oh man so many people are going to hate this game. I have not played the other demo for some time so again it took me a while to get used to the game. This is not a game you pick up and play and feel comfortable right away. You really have to work at it, but today's gamer is used to having everything easy to play and control. The camera is an issue cause it is sloppy compared to most TPSs, its too close, too loose. When the action ramps up the game can feel like a mess, especially the first time you play. This is a game you have to put lots of time to get the most of it.
Aw shit.
GG this will be your most hated game ever. It is so user unfriendly. you have to work to get used to this game.
The more I play the better it is. Few things to note:
- Dont forget you have a stamina bar which is used for melee attacks and the quick shot, I totally forgot about it till now.
- Dont forget you have a quick shot which is the best way to quick turn to the nearest enemy, plus it stuns them for some melee instant kills.
- If you stun a zombie with a weapon you can instant kill them with that weapon, I have axed a zombies head off, stabbed one with their own knife, fun stuff.
- You can counter enemies that try to hit you with their melee if timed right.
- Context sensitive kills you can do some awesome things to enemies when they are near a table or a raised wall.
- I think I have found all the blue medallions, I love that the Leon one is hidden in a drawer.
- There has to be a trophy for blowing up all the balloons in the university during the main game.
Chris demo played so much better when I played it smart. Took my time mixing cover shooting with charging the enemy when there are openings. Minding my surroundings so I dont get blindsided by enemy fire. It felt really good. Obviously camera and control issues are still there but I rather have this many options in the combat than say a game where all you do is fire from cover like a certain TPS.
And I'm being totally serious when I say this....WHAT THE FUCK IS UP WITH THE GRAPHICS?! Without even getting into how B level the gameplay is, the graphics....how do you create a new game in a series 3 years after the last one, and have it look WORSE?! Straight up; RE5 looks better than RE6.
How does this happen? The game is insanely dark, bland...and what's with the goddamn blur effect in aiming mode? Even RE4 didn't do that.
Capcom's true colors are showing here...they got somewhat of a free pass on RE5 by very closely copying RE4's framework, only they made it worse with the 2nd character. This time they had to try to "evolve" without the real RE team behind it, and it shows in all aspects. This actually reminds me of the newer Silent Hill games...TRYING desperately to find the magic of old, and failing horribly. SH and RE are once again on the same level.
The zombies are not scary at all...the game completely misses the feel and tension of the classics it is trying to duplicate. The controls are clumsy, and not in a tank control kind of way. The tank controls were tight..just in a tank like way. These controls are not. The camera is loose. And those graphics!!!??!
You have to laugh too...Capcom being all stubborn about putting this on Wii U, even though they normally put RE out on any machine that can handle it, AND they have always had ties with Nintendo. This would have been a golden launch game in name alone. Yet, the U is getting an exclusive zombie game from Ubisoft that is looking 10 times better in every way and it likely going to end up being the better horror game.
Seriously, I don't think I'm even going to pick this game up now. I can feel the disappoint already.
Replayed Jake's demo and I like it now.
Man I have never played a game that feels so bad the first time then like a cloud is lifted and there is all this awesome you can do. I had no clue Jake's rifle had a secondary grenade launcher attachment. When playing as Jake dont forget to use his hands and do the lock on attack, it will obliterate anyone in the area. The best way to kill the crab dudes is to do the melee lock on, it will stun them then you can go into the QTE to finish them off. Hell you can even do the lock on from cover so that you pop out running full speed at them and you can do a flash dodge if the enemy is shooting those spikes at you
I finally understood what was going on with the enemies, when they turn to crystal they are in standby and if you shoot them they explode into the mutant enemies. I think some are scripted but you can avoid most of those things if you watch where you shoot which is a decent gameplay mechanic.
What I dont like is how you get knocked back often, especially after ever damn needle attack. Also I cant seem to dodge the dudes with the giant tentacle arm seems to me like once they attack you they have locked on and even if you dive out of the way you will get grabbed. But I did manage to counter one, I grabbed the tentacle as it was coming at me and swung the enemy around with it, AWESOME.
Helena's hydra quick shot move is excellent, you all have to try it out.
Few things about Leon's demo that I had not mentioned before. The football field looks like something out of last gen, ugly. The animation of the zombies when the metal detector goes off, WTF, lol. In the car section you can do nothing and it just keeps on going forever, it is all for show. For some zombie fun save all your ammo and get to the part where you need to run to the car but dont go to the car. It becomes a zombie infestation in a small area, start quick shooting and you will see some cool stuff.
That said I am thinking Leon's demo is the most boring, the other demos really force you to play well.
Edge yeah this game is uglier than RE5.

Seriously, how do you manage to make a WORSE looking game, 3 years later? This is the 1st time I can ever recall this happening...ever. It just boggles my mind because it just shouldn't happen...its not on a handheld. Its not a Wii 1 exclusive.
This feels like a game that fans will have to FORCE themselves to like, and find the bright spots about. That's not good.

9 out of 10
There's more content and variety here than in any other entry in the series, and its stories - while a little too goofy to really take seriously - are nonetheless fascinating, particularly for those of us who've watched these characters grow and develop over the years...RE6 is a strange experience, to be sure - but more importantly, it's an unforgettable one.
LEVEL Magazine
7 out of 10
+ 3x longer than the regular action game
+ The environment design is really good; caves, prisons, etc
+ The soundtrack is the best in the series
+ Ridiculously good atmosphere
+ More fluid controls than in previous series
- 3x longer than the regular action game (yes, this is also a negative thing)
- Resident Evil 6 is more quantity over quality
- Uninspiring puzzle-design
- The differences between the three characters isn't as big as Capcom wanted it to be

"While long-term Resident Evil fans might still be disappointed by the nod towards action over horror, Capcom finally has the confidence and know-how to pull it off. It's big, it's brutal, it's ballsy and most of all, it's back,"
