That's like £60 more than the Splatoon OLED I got a year and a bit ago. About what I expected, I can deal with that.
It's the game prices that are annoying. I am a big indie gamer these days so I have tons of stuff to play and a ton of stuff on my wishlist. It's the AAA games I'll have to go easy on.
The Mario Kart bundle is £429 so you're paying like £30 for Mario Kart.
MK8 Switch and Wii U cost £50 at launch. Physical of course.

I doubt it. It's more likely because they believe people will pay it.
With a launch not until June, I suspect Nintendo did not have that opportunity. And if the tariff ends up being the base 10% that was discussed before, then. The pricing kind of falls into line with what I was expecting.
LMAO
In the UK you can only reorder the system from 8th April on an invite only basis.
The details are above, you have to meet all sorts of requirements then they invite you to pre order.
Fuck off plz.
Also physical versions of games are only like £6 more than digital.
Unless you're willing to wait for the 33% off a year later.
I reckon like with Switch games, retailers will be selling the games for less than Nintendo prices.
You then download from the eshop, but it seems it's a way for devs who can't afford to sell a cart. But in this case it looks like it can be sold and swapped.
It's a digital game licence than can be sold on. Interesting.

I heard Trump was doing 20% tarrifs on everything
So yeah, if you're prepared to wait and buy digital, it's not terrible.
Of course I can't wait for some games.
Mario Kart for £30 if you get the bundle is a great deal though.
Given the base Steamdeck is $399 and this is a big upgrade for $499 I thin the pricing is just right. Just by currency conversion that is $786 here in Au. Dare they try launch what most see as a child's toy for $800 in Australia?
Random famiboards member few. Secretboy.
And Next Handheld on Reddit also legit.
And Necro Felipe from Universo Nintendo hinted last night that 3D donkey Kong would be there and not 3d Mario.

Google says PS5 was $499 at launch?

US:
The PlayStation 5 was launched on November 12, 2020, with two versions available. The standard edition, which includes a disc drive, was priced at $499.99 USD, while the digital edition, which does not include a disc drive, was priced at $399.99 USD
I think I will bite. I can pay for a few months on a credit card. I also have enough Gamestop credit for a game or two.
I missed the show (it was the middle of the night here) so have only heard IGN's Nintendo podcast recap on the drive to work. At that time they were not sure on the price -- said $449 with Mario Kart World being $80, but Donkey Kong Whatever being $70?
Disappointed not to see a new 3d Mario announcement. Will reserve judgement on the games lineup until I see the presentation tonight.

Yup. I never saw one sold by itself for years, though; they were always bundled with a game to increase the price.
So take the digital price of DK for example then minus 33% and that's the lowest you'll pay for it.
I can't speak for other regions, here it takes a £50 game down to £33.
You have to be patient though as they don't drop in price for at least a year after launch. But pretty much any 1st party game goes on sale for 33% off on a regular basis.
Here I could always find a retailer selling physical for less than the RRP so it didn't matter if it only cost a bit more for physical over the digital sales price.
But now, if the physical price is that high ill mostly wait on sales apart from the stuff I need day 1.
