Oh BTW, Nintendo patent which tracks what buttons you might press, apparently it works similar to rolled back net code.
I saw a video on it, saying it would be built in at system level and that it could be used to combat latency in regards to controls , the video also referenced DLSS.

Aiming a cursor with an analog stick in a FPS should be a control method damned to the fiery pits of hell, for eternity.
Going from smooth gyro controls to dual analog is soul sucking. I've bought fps only to discover later they didn't have gyro. Feels like steering a car with your feet at this point.
BTW the patents say Switch 2 is going to have a 9 axis motion controls for the tablet.
Switch joycons are 6 axis and switch 2 joycons are 6 axis.
But the Wii U and Switch 2 tablet are 9 axis and more accurate. Guess this is why I performed better in Splatoon vs 2.

Dual analog > mouse+keyboard > gyro.

I can barely hit a demon taking up a 3rd of the screen in Doom 3 damnit!

That was down to Splatoon2 having much worse netcode. Drove me insane as well. Glad 3 was better again.
Nintendo patent for new split pro controller with mouse functionality

Wait, now famiboards are saying Switch 2 joycons will have 9 axis accelerometers

In all seriousness, I'm fine with Halo dual analog. For some reason it feels decent to me. Part of it is having a large reticule compared to the microdot Cross hairs of other games. But I feel like there is this dead zone on analog sticks where the game doesn't respond to pressure properly until you push it past a certain point.
So it feels dead, then ramps up, the end result is you essentially over steering one way, then back to the other.

I can't post the table but you can go to this thread and scroll down.
If you remember Rich at Digital Foundry hobbled a Dell laptop to simulate a Switch 2 projected performance. It only had 4gb RAM and doesn't have an FDE or SSD like speeds.
He tested a range of games and Serif on Famiboards has compared the results vs PS4 Pro and Xbox Series S. It's seems to match or out perform those consoles on the resolution front but the series S has better CPUs so can push higher framerates at lower resolutions. The Dell laptop version is running with Ray tracing enabled.
Pretty interesting, with 3x more RAM than the laptop, Switch 2 image quality should be pretty good. And it sync up with what mooreslawisdead said when he was comparing switch 2 with steam deck. He said steamdeck has better CPU so should run games at better framerates but switch 2 will have much higher resolution games.

yeah, Halo is still one of the best dual analog controlled games. I don't like how many modern games just use a tiny dot on screen for aiming.
Then Switch back to a weapon.

I hope Switch 2 supports external SSDs like this magnetic one. Its 2tb, and the price is the same as getting two normal 1tb micro sd cards.
We heard sd express cards may tap out at 2 tb. Hopefully these external drives will exceed 2tb someday and be cheap enough. I could see myself going all digital outside of a few big releases.
Something like this drive could use the top usb c port.
I'm a bit worried about the Switch2's larger size. More specifically on the impact it will have on single joycon play. If you're holding an original Switch right joycon you already need to stretch your thumb to reach the joystick. The new joycon are much larger, doesn't seem comfortable to me, and neigh on unusable for smaller kids with smaller hands.
The width of them is very similar. For me I play using my little fingers to cradle the tablet on the bottom in handheld. Given the height difference I won't be able to do that anymore.
Few Switch 2 tidbits.
Costco Canada has listed the price at 499 Canadian.
There have been rumours of no pre order period. Nintendo may just drop the console a couple of weeks after the direct, or just shadow drop it a couple days later.
Also Games industry.biz said European sales of GTA Trilogy, Switch was the second best selling sku above ps5 and Xbox.
No 1 was ps4 lmao.
A few tidbits.
Marvel Rivals dev says he's in contact with Nintendo and it will come to Switch 2 if its capable of it.
Split Fiction dev says he knows a lot about Switch 2 and is working on devkits.
And a Capcom producer says Nintendo won't let them talk about Switch 2 yet, when asked if Okami 2 is coming to S2.
You shouldn't lump FSR and PSSR in with DLSS, especially the latest versions. It's in a class of its own. Also games can actually use FSR and DLSS, but only on Nvidia hardware.
There's tons of Digital Foundry videos on DLSS showing its benefits.
I own Mclassic, it's different from DLSS, but the experience of having zero lag and zero artifacts has made me more positive on upscaling tech overall. But with regards to Switch 2 they did a video a couple of years back and it's eye opening on seeing the 720p raw image being rendered and what it's turned into by DLSS.

If you think about its benefits, Monster Hunter Wilds is aiming for 1080p 30fps on Xbox Series S.
It's a cpu bound game so may struggle on Switch 2. But with DLSS it can run at 540p and output at 1080p or render at 720p and output at 1440p. And it's not just standard "upscaling". Frame rates, image quality and detail will also rise.
Series S is actually going to be a huge benefit to Switch 2 as developers will already have a version of a game more in tune with Switch 2 specs.
