Anyone else deliberately take off helmets because they ruin the cutscenes? Looks so stupid.

Any way to keep the helmet stats but get rid of it visually? How does this fashion thing work?

Yeah I take helmets off in every game I can, like Ninty said go into settings and there is an option to not show helmets even when they're equipped. That's something I've for years in Bioware games. They always had the option in Mass Effect, possibly even Kotor too I can't remember.

Anyone find new LA almost too big? I only have half the city uncovered and it feels like I could explore it for a week.

Of course every area is going to be too big when the game is a bazillion times bigger than Witcher 3.

Yep....games are getting to the point where the worlds are too much. They don't NEED to be that big just for the sake of it. When you scale something this size, most of it is just open space for no reason. Kind of like the games you typically get at the launch of new hardware when they brag about having a billion dudes on screen at once & the game would have been better off having just 100 guys on screen at once.

There is an option in the settings to remove headgear. It is still on but you can't see it out of menus.

To change "Fashion Gear" go to "Ground Gear" Under the party menu when the name is highlighted press X instead of A and choose "Change Fashion Gear" for my party members I make their "Fashion Gear" be their default clothing.

So you can have the stat benefits of normal gear whilst wearing fashion gear for looks?

I dunno, I find the city big because there are all these characters and missions and things tucked away. The open world doesn't feel too big or intimidating to me at all. You can sprint through it endlessly and the auto-run and fast travel help. The scale really sets the mood, especially when there are these huge creatures roaming about.

I don't mind it being so big, I just find it a bit awkward to fully explore due to the layout.

I'm getting ticked off being told I can't accept missions because I haven't met the requirements. Why even bother showing missions I can't do yet? Waste of time reading it.

Okay this is really pissing me off now. Why do you have to switch out party members for missions? All the various restrictions are ridiculous and petty. I can't even progress the story. Basically all I can do is explore the map and whilst that's fun I've gotten to a point where parts of the map are gated by huge invincible monsters. It's like Metal Gear Open world dodging massive assholes.

Heads up: if you go into the Collectopedia page & set up all the stuff you've found, you get experience points for it.

Started the game over last night, as I said I would.  I've currently just chosen what 'division' I want to side with.  I went with pathfinders, as they give you some kind of XP for installing data probes and just discovering.  I didn't want to receive points for dull stuff like fatching materials.

I'm liking this one even more than the Wii title I must say. Goes to show what a difference better technology makes, because it just makes the whole world feel much more alive & immersive. Especially when its tech you're used to seeing on every other device, then you have to go back to the stone ages for a Wii game which was always akin to popping in an old Gamecube game from 2002.

Also, just the way this one is set up, with the base hub & the different military factions you can play with....different characters you can recruit whenever you want for each specific mission. I love it. I love the vibe of walking through the giant city then running out into the unknown to go on a mission seamlessly, and how the vibe and mood changes accordingly. Even the little details like collecting things, stats, skills and arts...it all feels just a bit more streamlined than the last game. Certainly my favorite Wii U game of the year, if not overall.
