I have the stealth ninja thing so people can't see me move in squid form, super useful. And I was tired of being insta-killed post squid jump so I got the perk where they can't see where I am landing. And the faster respawn.

I'll often just not squid jump. Seriously, with how small the levels are it's often not much longer to just swim to where you want to be than to take the time required to make the jump. And of course, you won't risk getting instakilled when you touch down. I'll only still use it when I have a teammate who's already far ahead and who doesn't seem to be near anyone from the other team. The invisible squid thing is nice too, but it slows you down while swimming, while I like to travel around at speed.
Played some Splatoon yesterday. Won 4 matches in a row, I felt like a GOD Then I lost the other 7 or so matches I played
I also tried out the Amiibo functionality. The 'extra content' is in fact a rehash of the single player levels, but you tackle them with different weapons. The boy inkling for one unlocks challenges based around a roller. So yeah, no one's missing out on much.

The way I see it, the way they mix up the exp players in a team, if I win it usually due to being on the team with the exp players. Then you lose the next time, then win the next time kind of thing.
I am level 6, but still muddling along pretty well with the .52 gal

I'd like to know on what basis you're awarded personal points at the end of a match. I'll have games where I feel like I've contributed a lot, and will end up with a relatively low score. Then I'll have games where I don't feel I've made a difference and I'll score rather well. I'm assuming that they remember what part of the ink you sprayed and you're being scored on how much of the final amount of ink was laid by you. Which is fine, but doesn't suit my playstyle well.
Yeah, I'm at level 13 and still using the .52 gal. I still think that save for rollers and snipers, the biggest differences between guns are which sub and special are assigned to which gun. There are some cool subs though, I've seen stuff like mines, which open up a whole new level of strategy as you can 'guard' area's while focusing on others.

I've noticed I get the most exp for going long periods without being shot. You don't seem to be rewarded for kills at all. I think it is surface area sprayed (regardless of if it ever gets covered) + bonuses for time not spent re-spawning.

I'd find it strange that there would be no advantage to killing opponents, other than taking them out of battle for a while and covering some area in your colour, but you would be penalized in points for being shot. Perhaps it's just a matter of being able to spray less surface if you spend a lot of time respawning?

Well, it's the entire un-cola philosophy of the game though, no? I mean Nintendo's whole thing with Splatoon is to devalue the usual "kill-kill-kill" experience of the FPS, so it would make sense that there is no reward for "killing" another player.
Well you're the one who brought up being rewarded for killing, not me You said there would be some benefit from not being killed, which translates to there being a negative effect to being killed, which equates in there being rewards for killing the other team.

Thanks for this, now I know I wont be wasting money.
As for turf wars, I hear walls do not count. And I assume you lose points for getting splatted.

Walls have to count.
I tell you though guys, I am ready for a new mode.

That thing is so annoying. How do you get it/ activate it?
SupremeAC said:Another tip I just recently learned: your equipment effects don't stack well. So it's better to just spread them out and gain as much perks as possible. Also, the main perk, the one you see when you buy the gear, will have a stronger effect than the ones you gain by 'leveling up' the gear.
What are everyone's favorite perks? Mine are special refill rate up and haunt. Haunt makes whoever killed you visible on the map for a set amount of time. It's a pitty you can't save weapon and gear sets, as the use of some perks is rather dependent on which weapon you have equiped.
I always go for defensive power ups.

Just buy and equip the right clothing. All the clothing has perks.

Okay, so it is one of the clothing perks, got it.
The clothing has tons of useful abilities and if you look carefully, buy clothing that unlocks more stuff with experience. It costs more but gives larger benefits.
Well, seems my Splatooning days will soon be over. I saw people do things. Cheap things, stupid things, things you'd see in real shooters. Like jump up and down all the time like idiots. Like camping in one spot for cheap kills It was... Horrible And then I'm not even mentionning how people are actually starting to work as teams, completely ruining my playstyle.
But hey, when I'm paired with 7 other idiots who just want to run around and paint stuff, it's still cool
Also enjoyed playing with Aspro yesterday. I was racking up kill sprees of 11-13 people per game. Of course, that was before Aspro joined, so there were no witnesses
edit: Oh yeah, and rollers are evil. What's the point of guns when you can throw instakill ink just as far with a roller? And if they have the Ninjasquid perk enabled, they're near invincible.

Funny, as I was playing with you yesterday, actually after you left I had the same thought with people starting to use regular cheap FPS online activities. A fleeting thought of, "uh oh, it's here now".
I am going to keep going though, hopefully the new game types will help spread out the population.
