Yeah, I know! I'm even disgusted at myself!
I'll eventually get both, but for some bizarre reason I feel like playing a less intimidating but fun game like Split Second before I dive into something grand like Red Dead.
Just for now, I guess. It's a phase I'm in right now.
But like you alluded to, $60 for Red Dead is definitely more reasonable than getting a racing game for the same price!
*sigh* I wish racing games like Split Second were cheaper.

Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
^That's true. (what Robio said about free online play going away).
Listening to the hotspot podcast, Tom McShea said he has an excellent weekend but can't talk about any of it (but can next week). Later on he bemoaned Wii Party and then got really excited about Mario Galaxy 2 (then quickly shut up). So I think we can expect a high score on that one.
It's true. Steel COMPLETELY cured me!
I wish I could be in the room the first time Vader plays 3D Dot Game Heroes.
I would just like to see the goofy grin creep across his face. Nah!
I would just like to see the enormous, girthy bulge that grows in his pants. Yeah! That's better!
I played it at a friends house ( I need to wait till my Amazon credit comes in after SMG2 ships), it was so awesome. It is such a love letter to old school games, I loved it. I did have a goofy grin the entire time.
Suck it up.
It's not battling used sales. But it is a measure to make money from second hand sales?
It's my GOTY so far, that's for sure. Once you complete the game they give you a code to DL more content for free, and unlock some other cool modes.
Makes me want to replay the first 2, but in my opinion, this one is the best so far. One had much more impact and the best story, but the tech held it back.
For reference (in terms of what it is competing with for my person GOTY, here are the other games I have beaten this year:
I like the concept. But I won't pay full price for an arcade racer (since I don't play online, I'd not get much value from it). I will get it when it drops down to $40.
Blood on the Sand was a solid 8. It was well executed, over-the-top in places, great soundtrack and some unique elements. Okay, one unique element, and that was a crazy scoring system like The Club had. Downside was lack of variety in settings. I played the PS3 version.
Birdman is essentially a Western version (comedy wise) of Phoenix Wright. Except for being easier than a usual entry in the Ace Attorney series it was identical. I had no knowledge of the source material and enjoyed it none-the-less. I played the PSP version, I understand the Wii version is no different.
Did the golf mission. The swing meter and controls were a bit assy. Loved the golf cart chase though, afterwards. And they brought in that gym guys brother. Nice.
Updating now.
Wow at this:
Babysitting Mama
- coming to Wii
- due out this Fall
- comes with plush baby doll that allows you to tuck the Wiimote inside
- rock the plush baby doll to care for it
Also you guys read this from yesterday?
"It absolutely still exists. It has been named, which I can't reveal yet. But they are still absolutely working on it - they're probably about halfway through the game. How would I describe it? I mean, if you follow Suda at all, you won't be surprised to hear it's mad genius in the horror genre. And hopefully we can continue to build on his reputation such that his games get appreciated by more and more people. I think sometimes when sometimes when someone gets a reputation for developing games that are a little bit out there, the interest in their specific games is smaller than it should be - it gets labelled as 'niche'. His designs are really, really creative and he thinks differently. In this world of making games we need more people who think differently." - EA Partners boss David DeMartini

Yeah, didn't get my hopes up yet. I'll wait for the date.
In other news, I thought this was a good theory thrown out by Tom McShea today.
He says that Rare/ Nintendo should have held Perfect Dark to the launch of the GameCube.
This would have resulted in a game much like the one recently re-released on XBLA coming out at launch on the GC (instead we got what? Luigi's Mansion and a Wave runner game). He thinks that the build up in hype for the next game from the Goldeneye folks would have given Nintendo a boost in sales and skewed their image away from being perceived as a "kiddie" console.
It also would have served the game better and given an answer to Halo (his theory, not mine).
I don't know if it is a good enough game to have changed the course of gaming history because when I played it on the N64 I quit after 30 minutes because it was so damn choppy, but then I guess that makes his point that it should have been held for the GC.
In any case, it's at the end of the Hotspot podcast if you want to hear it explained properly.
LOL
Meh, it was great on N64. Rare should have just made a decent sequel on cube instead of Starfox Adventures.
