Nothing can outdo the charm of Samba de Amigo, Jet Grind, Space Channel 5, SA1 and 2, Crazy Taxi the ambition of Shenmue and Seaman and the 10/10 AAA RPG that was Skies of Arcadia. But if you look in terms of PLAYABILITY and sustained fun, this gen edges it out.

Just looking through my collection (which in this regard is paltry) I see:

Vanquish, Binary Domain, Condemned 1&2, Bayonetta, Valkyria Chronicles, Virtua Tennis, Yakuza 3 and 4 (which starting with 4 has taken a new direction), Infinite Space, Sonic Chronicles, The House of the Dead Overkill and Alien Syndrome. (Then you have Sonic Colors and Generations)

Now in looking at that list, it does seem soul less, I must admit compared to my high-school crushes on the Dreamcast, but I've finished most of those games, whereas on the DC those games were mostly a few hours of fun and move on. SEGA has done a great job of cherry picking this gen.

Yeah I get your point, Sega is making more playable games I think that has a lot to do with them not being an arcade maker anymore as so many of those DC games were simply arcade ports with a few added extras.        Stil I cant get over how much more original Sega was at the time. To  me stuff like Condemed does nothing for me, just another FPS. HotD was great but I rather play the real light gun games of old, with the actual gun.  Sonic Chronicles is a giant piece of crap. Yakuza 3 and 4 I bet are good but remember when Yakuza was fresh and new, that was last gen. Binary Domain, another TPS. Its just stuff that isnt really that interesting to me, very copy cat where Sega was original. Bayonetta is the one with no equal and to me that will always be more of a Capcom game than Sega as its Capcom's talent using DMCs combat to make something amazing.

Like I said before Headhunter, that was one really cool different game and I would take those games over Condmened any day. I rather play a totally new kind of game like Shenmue 1 and 2 rather than another TPS like Binary and Vanquish (I know they are great games too, I just wouldnt put them in the same category as the best of the genre while with Shenmue there was no genre to put it into). I have no clue what Alien Syndrome is but I bet I would rather play Panzer Dragoon Orta. The original PSO is better than any game Sega has made this gen IMO. I think VF4 was better than VF5, it brought huge changes while VF5 slightly elabroated on them. Honestly I think only the Sonic games have improved this gen as the new ones are way more playable than the old ones but they wont leave that impact SA1 and 2 had, those games were crazy at the time.  

This just in, Sega pushed an old lady down the stairs and stole her social security check. And further reitterated that they will not localize Valkyria Chronicles 3.

Anyway reading through your later posts more lolwat occurs. You want SEGA to be more original by making the games they made in the past? Instead of using a new interface you would rather use an old one? For the sake of innovation?

Shenmue? Well there's your only example of a game that invented a genre. You can stick Dead Souls in there too given its hybrid nature. There's 1-1 genre inventions. Of course Shenmue is far better...

Aspro's list sums it up. Let's forget about which one any of us prefer. The problem isn't that SEGA suddenly sucks but that they don't make the games you want anymore. That's fine, and say SEGA suck for that reason, but your original argument was OMG DEY MAKE 1 OR 2 GOOD GAMES!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Then you get a list of games that they used to make...a quarter of which they still do, and a quarter that were mediocre-good, with the other half replaced by equally well received games not to your taste.

Anyway their published games certainly make up for the lack of innovation in their developed games, though once again Dead Souls. Originality>quality after all.

P.S.

When you say they make 1-2 games what you actually mean is that's the total amount of SEGA games that you've played this gen.

Yeah the latter is pretty good. Lacking detail, but very tasty. If I were them I'd hold it off until the next gen as a transition treat.
