Good news is most of them have no bids and they are way over price. I think a lot of flippers are going to get screwed when Nintendo releases a flood of these to meet all the demand. The ones that don't have bids are the ones that are buy-it-now and those are the ones that usually have too high of a price-tag since if it was reasonably priced, it would already be purchased and the listing wouldn't be there. Also note, the auctions are now going a little higher - this one that I have been watching is now at $520. It still has an hour to go, so it should be interesting to see what happens.

And I really don't think Nintendo is going to be able to flood the market. The early estimate is for 7 to 8 million units be available in the "launch window" to be spread world-wide. That's pretty standard for any hardware release. I doubt they'll be able to top that. If they do it will be a few months afterwards. So I don't think it'll be the flippers who will be screwed, only the people that buy from them.  But you never really know. I just remember I was unable to find a Wii in a store until Black Friday of 2007. The insane demand could very well be there again. God knows Sony is handing the holiday season to Nintendo afterwards.

I think a lot of Platinum's future success will lay with their Metal Gear game rather than with Bayonetta 2.  If Revengeancesincity or whatever it's called doesn't pan out so well I think they'll have a hard time finding a lot of western support.

This was amusing to me. While the guy raises a few valid points, the fact is when you're in an in-house marketing/advertising/PR position, your job is always the first to be put on the chopping block. That is a corporate fact of life. Whenever a company needs to make cuts the first to go is the marketing budget, and when the marketing budget gets cuts so do the people who spend it for you. Whether it's a smart move is questionable, but you can count on it like the sun rising in the east. I've had that axe hanging over my head for about 15 years now.  It's the reason advertising agencies exists - get other people to do the creative stuff and the buying and then once it's done get the fuck out and save yourself 10%.

The real amusing thing is that this was a PR employee and now he's talking a tremendous amount of crap about his former employer. Not exactly a great portrait of yourself to paint for perspective employers.

That's what I was thinking as well. He should have vented to his friends. It's not a great idea to piss on the company that fired you and then go looking for a new PR job.

I don't know if I want Platinum to be taken under the wing of a benefactor publisher (like Konami) or if that would also lead to them making safer decisions.

I suppose their survival is the primary concern.
