Just as I was praising W8, the music player is crapping out and wont play files it had no trouble with before, the net browser is sticking and freezing. And it's becoming slower and slower to log in and start. cheeky I hate this shit, every flipping PC, it always starts out fine then updates slowly kill the system.

Mark Cerny, the lead architect for PlayStation 4, has suggested that new console's Remote Play feature will inevitably not work ideally on all game genres.

The new Remote Play technology sends a video feed from the PS4 to a user's PS Vita - ideally with both connected to the same Wi-Fi router - and the handheld then sends input commands back to the console.

Inevitably, there is a degree of lag in this process, and early reports indicate the latency is not negligible.

In an interview with IGN, Cerny was candid about his views on the technology, explaining that games that require near-immediate reaction times may not be best suited for Remote Play.

"It is just a part of that cloud gaming technology that there will be a bit of latency there. Ultimately I think it's going to be that some games will work really well in that kind of context and some games will work less well," he said.

"If you're playing a twitch fighter or racing game, you might not want to be doing that. That's cloud gaming."

He clarified that "a lot of the games will work very well".

Remote Play is said to be a mandatory requirement on all PS4 games, though dev teams have reported that integrating the feature can be feasibly completed in a matter of days.

Despite a recent Sony advertisement which suggested Remote Play would be feasible outside the house, it is not believed this will work as desired in practice.

"Once you get out of the house there will be some latency, we have a lot of techniques to combat that," Cerny added.

Yoshida said the same thing months ago. Looks like it'll be good for third person games, but any game with shooting or fast paced racing/fighters, reaction times wont be good. IGN said they didn't like BF4 remote play due to latency, stuttering. And also 60fps multiplayer modes on BF4 or Killzone for instance will halve the framerate on Vita remote play, as there's a 30 fps cap on remote play.

The campaign swings from genius highs to frustrating, horrendous lows. Thankfully the highlights are more frequent than the moments that had us screaming with rage. When it comes to the multiplayer it delivers a solid experience.

+
Gorgeous design, Brilliant graphics, Phenomenal framerate, Excellent sound, Precise controls, Full of contrast.
-
Some stupid levels, At times odd combat direction, Uneven difficulty.
8/10

Huh, they edited "Some superlatively stupid levels" to just "some" stupid levels?

Thoughts on PS4 launch? Their two flagship games aren't doing great.

Knack is bombing everywhere and Killzone is like a 5/10 - 8/10, with most praising it as a technical showpiece with flat, lifeless design.

Outisde of that you have versions of multiplatform games you can pick up on current gen or PC.

Reminds me of the Wii U launch, Nintendoland and NSMB U and a lot of yearly current gen shit. But I think at least those two titles were different enough and decent enough to tide you over, for a bit at least.

N.Direct in 45 minutes guys.

  • Eurogamer: 4/10 - Perhaps time was a factor, or perhaps Mark Cerny - the PlayStation 4 visionary who also led development of this game - is a better programmer and system architect than he is a writer and creative director. Whatever the answer, Knack isn't the kind of game you'll want to take home with your PlayStation 4. I'm all in favour of games that transport us back to the good old days of vibrant originality, but Knack simply doesn't.
  • kotaku: Yes - Play it to enjoy the next-gen graphics moreso than the throwback PS2-style gameplay
  • Polygon: 6.0 - Knack has too little going on over its 12 hour length. The core concepts are strong - it's fun to watch Knack grow bigger and smash things. The incredible imagination promised by the dawn of new hardware is on display in Knack. But the moments of payoff come too infrequently to make plodding through another three dozen frustrating enemies any less tedious.
  • Destructoid: 7/10 - Knack is still a fun romp, and definitely worth a play. It's easy to pick up, a joy to look at, and and some of the boss battles are pretty great. My recommendation is that you take it in smaller doses, or try out the drop-in/drop-out cooperative play, which will definitely help when the going gets tough. It's not the next blockbuster platformer you'd want out of a launch title, but you need a break from shooters or want something with some personality, Knack is worth a look.
  • IGN: 5.9 - Playing Knack is like watching a dull movie on a plane - it's tolerable if all you want is a way to pass the time, but it's not something you'd seek out for its own sake. I finished in about 11 hours and, challenges, co-op, and secrets aside, there's just not much here worth recommending. Sure, some individual elements show potential, particularly when the scale of the encounters changes as Knack grows, but it never moves beyond playing it safe with the concepts or the characters.
  • Joystiq: 1.5/5 - Knack fails to capitalize on its own ideas and structure, and is successful only in acting as a reminder of the shallow, punishing platformers of a time when we really cared about how many bits there were on your console.
  • Game Informer: 8.25 - Though it's a launch game for a next-gen system, Knack is almost nostalgic; it's the kind of game they don't make that often anymore. As such, it's not the most innovative or the most visually dazzling game. This won't be the one you put in to show off your new console to your friends. However, when you're done with the prettied-up versions of the big franchises, you'll find yourself wanting to return to Knack. It's got charm and heart, and offers a whole lot of good gameplay. Ultimately, that's still what's important - no matter which generation we're in.
  • GamesRadar: 2.5/5 - There are certain times, when the camera is pulled in tight, that Knack looks like the next-gen showpiece you want it to be. In-engine cutscenes show off the detailed world and fantastic lighting, with wonderful shadows and imaginative characters. And there are moments where the gameplay lives up to expectations, feeling like a modern game with flashes of old-school nostalgia. Problem is, those times are interspersed between design flaws that feel two generations old, making for an uneven, unmemorable experience.
  • VentureBeat: 70/100 - Knack isn't going into the PlayStation 4 launch with a ridiculous amount of hype, but the end product seems like it'll be one of the better original titles to come out of the system's early exclusives. It hits enough checkboxes to warrant a look, but that $60 price should call for some thought before you buy in. At the very least, Knack is definitely worth renting. A bigger, better adventure is likely coming if the game gets a sequel, but if not, you're probably better off waiting for a sale or discount price.
  • GameSpot: 4/10 - Knack's downfall is that it focuses entirely on combat, but doesn't offer enough variety or depth within its system to compel you onward. Any early thoughts you may have that there must be more to the punch-punch-repeat action than meets the eye are banished once you plow through hours of the same basic sequences. And even Knack's few attempts at diversity are merely competent. The occasional platforming scenario lacks the joy of movement so necessary for jumping to be engaging, and the platform placement doesn't require any cleverness to surpass. There's not one element of Knack to rally around, to excite you. And without that special something, Knack crumbles just like its piecemeal protagonist.

  • CVG: N/A - Overall, Killzone Shadow Fall is a pleasant surprise. It doesn't seek to reinvent the FPS, but it does inject a much-needed infusion of creativity and originality into the genre.
  • GamesRadar: 4/5 - Sure, Killzone: Shadow Fall has its lulls, but it's a mostly enjoyable experience from start to finish. This is no doubt the PlayStation 4's strongest exclusive launch title.
  • OPM: 8/10 - A mix of familiar gunplay and just enough new ideas, gorgeous looks and sheer technical wow to make you feel like you're stepping into a shiny new future.
  • IGN: 8.0 - There's never been a better time for everyone to be paying attention to the Killzone franchise, because Shadow Fall is a step in an all-new, very welcome direction.
  • GameSpot: 7/10 - Guerrilla Games remembered what drew me and many others to the front lines of online war, and it's here that Shadow Fall emerges from the rubble and flies into the electric skies.
  • Eurogamer: 7/10 - It's a game that any new PlayStation 4 owner will be proud to show off - but it won't be one they remember by the time PS5 rolls around.
  • Polygon: 5/10 - For all the next-gen bluster of its visuals and the repeated blunt-force attempts to ram a message home, Guerilla's first shot on the PS4 retreads shooter cliches, and poorly. In a launch lineup crowded with shooters, Killzone: Shadow Fall sits at the bottom.
  • VideoGamer: N/A - Guerrilla Games is a master at creating technically excellent but utterly lifeless titles - the 'game' element is seemingly little more than an interactive showcase for its skills. Killzone: Shadow Fall is both ahead and behind the times, with gameplay sadly falling into the latter category.
  • Joystiq: 3.5/5 - Killzone: Shadow Fall loses its sheen at times, usually when pursuing moments that are cinematic but not sensible. As a shooter, it's better at thriving on eye-catching environments and supportive combat abilities that don't just come for free. It also can't help but blow up its pristine cityscapes before you get to know them, but that just goes with the territory, here on the border between good and great.
  • Destructoid: 9/10 - A hallmark of excellence. There may be flaws, but they are negligible and won't cause massive damage to what is a supreme title.
  • GameTrailers: 8.8/10 - Guerrilla Games needs to recognize that it's not plot points and politics that move its games, but the bullets and guns. If the campaign could take a step back from the spectacle to focus on core concepts and feedback loops, the qualities that make the multiplayer suite so flexible and entertaining could make the campaign even stronger.

Actually KZ looks allright.

Sorta.

"And that is how you beat the lava dungeon. Next we are going to show you how to solve the hardest puzzle in the game..."

That is kind of what this feels like right now.
