I've been playing:
Blaster Master (NES)
Rise of the Triad: The Hunt Begins (DOS)
Heretic (DOS)
Ultimate Doom (DOS)

Decided it was time to play some of my favorite classic PC games again. You know what I meant. we are among friends here, you know what I mean. Yeah sure Wii Sports Resort is a real game, I dont care for games that are a collection of what is essentially mini games. I want progression, I want some kind of campaign, I like boss fights, I like to be able to beat a game.
Happy now.
Yet you don't buy Red Steel 2
---
Tell me to get back to rewriting this site so it's not horrible on mobileI want Red Steel 2. That is what I have been saying.
I've been playing a lot of Trauma Team
Still excellent. I recommend it to all.
And yesterday I downloaded DoReMi Fantasy from the Virtual Console:
Suprisingly good little game. Not an utterly revolutionary platformer, even for its time, but it still have a few little unique features to it and the level themes are really good. One level is based on wine and desserts and to ascend vertically you ride champagne corks that explode from bottles.
So I had this week off. Did the friends visit last weekend. Then planned on following E3, relaxing a whole bunch and playing a crap-ton of games.
3 out of 4 ain't bad, I guess. I did everything --BUT-- play games for most of the week. I attempted to remedy that this weekend.
I promised my nephew I would go to one of his Championship Baseball games, so I took a train to Long Island yesterday evening. On that trip I played:
In the original game on the GBA you had to use the A and B buttons to Jump and Use your Gun or Sword --AND-- the L and R triggers on top of the system to Dash and either Switch your weapon between the Sword and the Gun or Fire/Swing it by pressing the shoulder button.
Imagine playing Devil May Cry and having to THINK about switching your weapon mid-fight --OR-- using a shoulder button to fight. It just doesn't work! In the collection, you can assign whatever button to whatever function. You can have a Jump button, a Sword Button, a Gun Button and a Dash button. You have access to all of your weapons, immediately; you can fire a bullet and the next second swing your sword. It is now SEAMLESS. In a game like this it HAS TO BE, and NOW in the collection, IT IS!
The game was hardcore back in the day, but half of it was struggling with the controls! NOW it is STILL hardcore but it is totally --FUN-- because this collection has taken all the frustration away and left ONLY the good parts! It is HARD but it is manageable! The sense of being able to play this game AS IT SHOULD BE PLAYED is FINALLY REALIZED after EIGHT YEARS!
I haven't been THIS excited by a game like this since the days of the original Mega Man X series! Add on top of all that: A serious, continual story-line throughout all 4 games, Hardcore, Stylish Action on a Small-Screen where (Yes) you are graded on your Performance --AND-- Role-Playing Elements throughout all the games as well! I almost forgot about this after all these years --BUT-- Use your Gun a lot in Zero One and you eventually get to Fire more Bullets, Add Two Charge Levels when you Hold the Button Longer, or Add Elemental Effects to your Shots! AWESOME! It's Mega Man WITH a Laser Sword! YES! I can go on for hours about this, but I won't (for now!)...
The OTHER game I played this weekend was:
Just yesterday I decided I had enough! I put everything else aside and devoted a serious amount of time to God of War 3. I have no idea how far I got, but the pic above JUST happened! I think I made some GOOD progress this time, and although I go back to my normal schedule tomorrow, I have put enough time in to it now where I NEED to see the finish!
I am ashamed it took me this long to say this but --W-O-W-- what incredible graphics, what incredible scenes, what incredible boss-battles... W-O-W ! ! ! GOW3 has cemented itself as one of my favorite games on the PS3 and in this generation as a whole!
I FINALLY put aside Mario Galaxy 2 and SMT: Strange Journey for enough time to play and enjoy something else!
Let's see what happens NEXT WEEKEND now!
Gave up on Black, Battlefield2: Modern Combat and Beyond Good and Evil. Skipped Bible Adventures.
After listening to the Tournament in Pebble Beach I was inspired to play Links 2004 from XSN (XB). It's a great golf game. Working through Career Mode, and have about one level of events to get through.
Still playing FF5 Advance, made some serious progress yesterday, but am now lost again.
Overall a mediocre week of gaming.
Was that the game with the shark gun?
This weekend I finished Red Dead Redemption. What a great ending to a fantastic game. Still have a few things left to do to get 100% in the story mode plus I'll play som more multiplayer.
I also played a bunch more Super Mario Galaxy 2. Fantastic game, totally loving it. I have 68 stars and am currently in World 6.
Yes sir. Developed by Planet Moon Studios, who were responsible for Giants Kubuto, Battle of the Bands (fun wii game) and Infected (PSP). I try to buy every game they make (though they did a couple of cheap Wii games I missed).
Third person shooter.
Angel. Have you played Alan Wake yet? I picked it up today but it's still in the shrink wrap. I'm wondering if I should just keep it or play it. I need to save my money for the upcoming Sin & Punishment 2 so I'm not sure if I should return it or not.
Anyway, if you played it, is it good? Should I just keep it? A lot of people are saying it's really good and I do want to play it.
I wish I had more money.

Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
Yeah, I played Armed and Dangerous then. That shark gun was hilarious! Best . . . Gun . . . Ever!
Aspro, I think you're the king of playing obscure and under-the-radar games!
I don't think I can ever sit through games like what you've been playing!

Now Playing: Golden Sun Dark Dawn, God of War Ghost of Sparta, and DKC Returns
I finished No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle.
Restarted Okami. I never got very far with this game but I love the look and the art of the game so I decided to give it another go

Excellent review for Puzzle Quest 2. The first game was awesome so picking this one up is a no-brainer for me.
In fact i just did that scene, so awesome. This game is paced so perfectly, I know the flipside to that is that it almost never lets you go on your own. There is so much going on outside of dungeons, they really keep the intensity going the entire game. Once you do get into the dungeons they are the very best in the series. A masterpiece.
