Personally, I think EA got a bargain to get Popcap for $750 million. Popcap is a real development company with a proven track record.
The Words With Friends company got bought by Zynga for $53 million, which is fair (as the "... With Friends" is now a reliable brand). Angry Birds is obviously much bigger but it's just one game possibly even a fad. People are already moving onto Tiny Wings etc...
But with merchandising, including a TV series and or movie it could be turned into a much greater value. Yeah, I too would like to know what an analyst of such things would think.
I just recieved a shiny new black Classic Controller Pro in the mail today. Wow, this controller is awesome! This should have been the main controller for Wii and Wii U! F*** motion controls! And F*** oversized touchscreen controllers too!
I actually just followed Pachter on his Twitter feed and asked him the question. Not sure if he'll respond or not, but we will see. He does accept questions to be answered on his podcast so I'd say I have a 50/50 chance of having it answered.
Hope Solo is arguably the worst name ever invented. The very fact that it's like Han Solo but terrible only further illustrates how bad it is. How do you ruin something that's like Han Solo? That's how. Decent goalkeeper though, but still lacking a bit of awareness, but nowhere near as much as most female goalkeepers.
The world cup has been pretty good so far by the way. It's gone from being rubbish apart from 2 teams to actually being pretty entertaining overall. The goalkeepers are still terrible in general, and the defences too.
King Arthur.
I got a quarter of the way through this game (with it's 2 hours of unskippable footage from the movie) and then I was like... what am I doing? Why play a terrible rip-off of a Dynasty Warriors game when I wouldn't even play Dynasty Warriors.
So I started TimeSplitters 2 instead this morning, while watching a re-run of the All-Star game. I think I'll have it finished today. Now that I've played the Rare FPS games I am seeing the simularities in Time Splitters (I had prior only played "3"). Little motion sickness, which is not normal for me. This is from the era where you move like you are on a monorail (and level designers were in love with spiral staircases).
I tried out 3DS Nintendo video last night. It's pretty bunk. Basically it auto downloads video, you have no choice of what to get so if it wants to spend 5 minutes downloading something you don't want, tough luck. The two videos I got download to the SD card, yet you have no choice in what you keep or not - they are availible for 7 days and I assume the app will delete them once that period is up to make way for new content.
The first video was 1 minute long, a card magic trick performed with music but no speech. It was made with a curtain for a background and must be one of the cheapest things I have ever seen on video.
The second video was a 7 minute computer animation about a lizard in the desert called Oscar. I was suprised by the clarity of the picture and the depth of the 3D which seems to work best with either games or computer generated images. It was okay, sort of like a Wily Coyote cartoon. It's pretty poor pickings when I hear that japan got a 3D tour of Tokyo. I think they need some 3D documentaries on this service.
The U.S is shortly going to get 3D movies streamed to them via Netflix so that will be cool - as for europe I don't see this happening.
LOL that's true.
The Namco stuff seems good, high quality polished titles. Both their games are open world, you guys should actually try reading the Go Vacation, Family Fishing threads - huge islands to explore on foot, horse, train, glider etc. Go Vacation lets you build your own holiday home too, as well as take pics and acquire a dog as a friend to pootle about with. That's on top of the 50 different activities to do.
Just read that this is a WiiWare game. Cool.

The now infamous PlayStation Network breach and the months of down time that followed were a "great experience" and "a really good time", Sony's network boss has bizarrely stated.
Sony's president of network entertainment, Tim Schaaff, made the strange comments in an interview at GamesBeat 2011 in San Francisco, though he admitted he wouldn't like to experience the situation again.
Quizzed on his thoughts on the PSN downtime, Schaaff said (according to GameBeat's own website): "Great experience, really good time. Though I wouldn't like to do it again." The GB site doesn't clarify if he was joking or not.
"A determined hacker will get you, the question is how you build your life so you're able to cope with those things," he said.
The PSN down time began towards the end of April, although at the time no-one outside of Sony realised the magnitude of the problem.
Sony soon confirmed that the network had indeed been hacked and that the personal information of millions of users had been compromised.
The PlayStation Network wasn't restored in the US and Europe until the beginning for last month.
That makes more sense. That is cool.
Yeah Netflix is supposed to start tomorrow (today) in the US. Vader should be stoked about that with all the travel he does (so long as he can find wifi).
So ...sick... I've been on a Timesplitters 2 marathon this afternoon. Almost finished, but I feel like this:
And, where the hell is "everyone" this week? No Yoda, Steel, Iga,and Vader (today), Archie, Edge, Agnates, Leo, Travo...
Are you all stuck to the Womens World Cup coverage?
Imagine what Monolith could do on Wii U with this art. More pics in the Xenoblade thread
Most have been online this week apart from Yoda. If you're talking about today, the american contingent don't usually come online for several more hours. It's got to be 4am there about now.
^Yeah, I see them usually from about this time minus 15 hours each day. Slower week than normal.
I rather imagine how Edgy is getting jealous of me when I play the shit out of this game. Of course Vader would be disspointed too, but let's face it, he would not buy the game anyways. He alwas says he is going to buy "insert Wii game here" and he never does, or waits until it is 5 bucks.
I have said multiple times that I want Xenoblade to come to US only to get it when its $5.
Iwata probably saw your posts and ordered Reggie not to localize it in North America. He did it out of spite.
