OMG
Viz Media Adds 2011 Hunter x Hunter Anime
But keep on watching season 1 is excellent. Season 2 is much worse. Just watch season one then proceed to read the manga, which is excellent as well!

I just meant broadly to paint a picture for those who haven't seen it. It's a bit Battlestar Galactica in the setup. What happened with season 2? And how many episodes is season 1?

Fillers that kinda made the Gauna non threatening!
Da fuck?
Did the anime get too far in before more of the manga was written, so they went off script?
Started watching Puella Madoka? Think I spelt it right....
Bit crappy so far, art is offputting the colour drain is very slight but irksome. Some fantasy stuff not well explained. Kinda boring. Only two episodes in.

The beginning is actually kinda shit, though.

12 episodes. I think what happened is that they needed to finish it, but the story was no where near to close to be finished, so they invented a climax that was bullshit.
I would not compare this to Battlestar. It is hard scifi like the stories from Arthur C. Clarke, but with mechs.

In my defence I was really tired and fell asleep halfway through episode 2.

I hate it when that happens. They should either wait for a manga to get sufficient content or just pause production on the series.

Finished the first 4 eps, it gets better after Mami dies. Still seems kinda depressing though? The scratchy eyes are a bit of a reality breaker for me and the maze artwork looks like a bunch of random greeting cards got cut up and stiched together. It's so off from the main artwork it kind of breaks the atmosphere for me. Again, the series seems very depressing and heavy so far.
Started two awesome shows based the first episode anyway:
Campione!
Godou Kusanagi, a retired baseball player, is asked by his grandfather to return a stone tablet to a friend in Sardinia named Lucrezia Zora. After meeting the demonically manipulative sword-mistress Erica Blandelli, he encounters the god of war, Verethragna. After killing the god, Godou becomes a Campione, or god slayer. His duty is to fight heretical gods who start changing things to suit themselves, usually at the expense of the people in the area. One of the problems associated with being a Campione, is that his status keeps attracting attention and difficult girls. Erica, who strongly professes her love for him, usually creates awkward and misunderstood situations for him in particular.
Very funny and action packed.
EDIT: Finished the series and it was shit overall
Toradora
Toradora!'s story begins with the male protagonist Ryūji Takasu who is frustrated at trying to look his best as he enters his second year of high school. Despite his gentle personality, his eyes make him look like an intimidating delinquent, so he feels utterly hopeless about his chances of getting a girlfriend anytime soon, and does not have many close friends either. After being greeted by his hungover mother in the morning, Ryūji goes to school and is happy to find that he gets to be in the same class with his best friend Yūsaku Kitamura and a girl he has a crush on, Minori Kushieda. However, it is then that he unexpectedly knocks into "the school's most dangerous animal of the highest risk level"—Taiga Aisaka—who just happens to also be in his class, and is a good friend of Minori.
This show seems super funny and very nuanced with it. There are tons of these little moments that make you laugh.
EDIT: Finished and it was awesome, top 10 anime series ever by my reckoning.
It is, but that's why it's good. It certainly doesn't get any more cheerful.
And the cut-out art/contrast is cool. Main stuff looks bland by the comparison, which is the point I suppose.
Hmmmm.
Not sure I'm down for more depressing stuff. I gave up Clannad because of that.
So, Toradora has kept good through the first 9 eps, very funny, clever and subtle. Campione! quickly descended from the awesome first episode into something more like Rosario Vampire, ugh.
By its eleventh expansion pack, the massively multiplayer online role-playing game (MMORPG) Elder Tale (エルダー・テイル, Erudā Teiru;text-decoration:none;">?) has become a global success, with a user base of millions of players. However, during the release of its twelfth expansion pack: Novasphere Pioneers (ノウアスフィアの開墾, Nōasufia no Kaikon;text-decoration:none;">?, alt. Homesteading the Noosphere[2][3]), thirty thousand Japanese gamers who are logged on at the time of the update suddenly find themselves transported into the virtual game world and donning their in-game avatars. In the midst of the event, a socially awkward gamer named Shiroe, along with his friends, Naotsugu and Akatsuki, decide to team up so that they may face this world, which unfortunately has now become their reality, along with the challenges and obstacles ahead of them.
Finished Log Horizon up to the midway point, 26 episodes (everything released so far). I really like this series it really makes Sword Fart Online seem boring. Rather than trying to morosely find a way out, they try to build a new future within the gameworld. It's postive and fun, hits all the right notes. I don't want to hype it up too much, it's just a really solid, watchable and enjoyable series.
Finished Campione!
It fizzled out after the first episode and became like Rosario Vampire with fewe laughs. It got boring, quick and there was an intensely creepy scene near the end where he injected his godly power into the girl with a simulated sex scene. Bizaare stuff.
Toradora however is excellent. Really, excellent stuff.
Finished the Comic Artist and his Assistants, decent little comedy series, each episode is about 10 minutes long. It's bascially a quickfire sketch show.
Started Tiger and Bunny, it seems to be an anime take on the traditional American superhero comic book show. It even looks western and with the U.S voice acting it literally could be on Disney XD or Cartoon Network. Feeling so much like those shows has some drawbacks, it's very light, fluffy stuff and doesn't appear to have some deep story or threading going on. It's fun enough and action packed though.
I've updated the OP list with Hunter x Hunter, Log Horizon, Magi, the Comic Book artist and his Assistants, Toradora!, Campione! and more.
There are two new entries in the top ten, I suggest you check it out

So good, classy series with a lot of laughs.
Series I've kinda given up on:
- Sword Art Online - too slow
- Soul Eater - too inconsistent
- Gurren Lagaan - too repetitive
Netflix Aims to Eventually Produce Anime
Fullmetal Alchemist Director Mizushima Collaborates on Utakata: Overdrive Multimedia Project
Finished the Bleach Soul Candy arc, series has gotten into a groove, all solid stuff.
About 18 episodes into Log Horizon, good series getting better, it starts exploring the ramifications of making a new life inside an rpg gameworld, raises some interesting questions while still being entertaining.
Surprisingly I am 120 episodes into Naruto and it doesn't feel like I've watched more than 20 episodes. A good sign IMO, once the less than stellar early episodes get out of the way it's very compelling and entertaining. Real must-watch-next-episode stuff.
