I dont know anything about any of these movies.

Have you heard of The Raid, its supposed to be one of the best action movies ever made.

I find it hard to believe that an action film made with modern editing and cinematography techniques could be one of the best ever. I'm yet to see one that is even mediocre.

New Splinter Cell 'will explore franchise's roots

It always makes me laugh when people say that. It happens all the time in music. Its basically saying "Yeah, we know our fans weren't too happy with the last thing we did, so we're going back to what was good about it in the 1st place and hope people follow."

I think it was too easy to kill in Conviction, which made it less satisfying.

Not only that, everything was just over simplified. The stealth aspect which is THE main reason to play a Splinter Cell game was all fucked up.

It was a good game for what it was...it just didn't feel like Splinter Cell at all.

It was a bit too action focused, being able to mark and take down multiple enemies at once was ripped from Red Steel but it almost felt like robocop.

What are your guys thoughts on game resolution? HD etc for next gen?

I realised that I was watching Tin Tin the other day on DVD which is 480p and it was just upscaled onto my HDTV and its graphics looked better, more rounded, smoother and detailed than anything I've ever seen on consoles regarless of resolution. Does resolution matter? Should consoles stop chasing resolution targets?

BTW there are some reviews in the movie hype thread for the Raid, Vader.

AICN left THE RAID: REDEMPTION wanting to beat up every person on the entire planet (in a good way)!!!

"Oh, hells yes. At this point, even I'm sick of hearing how awesome THE RAID is. But the sad truth is, THE RAID is a straight shot to the nutsack that hurts so good that the only way to make it feel better is to ask for someone to hit you one more time even harder."

Twitch's Review Roundup: THE RAID: REDEMPTION 4 reviews here from separate reviewers

"Watching The Raid is like riding an out-of-control roller coaster for a whole hour and a half. It is nauseatingly intense and heart-stoppingly thrilling."

I have never seen hard boiled but there was a aicn review that said die hard, hard boiled and now the raid are the greatest action movies ever  made.

I believe the redemption name is a dumb subtitle added for the us.

I believe the redemption name is a dumb subtitle added for the us.

I'm unclear on that as I heard about the Raid ages ago, then the raid redemption kept being mentioned and I didn't know if it was a sequel to the original raid or if its just a subtitle for the U.S market.

Let the Bullets Fly is on dvd in America, released by Well Go. It's suppossed to be good and it isn't being released over here. Neither is Wuxia angry

Cool, new, nicer looking Epic Mickey screens in the updates.

Ah the gamesradar video says the Wii is the lead platform being done by junction point, Blitz UK is handling the ports. They say splitscreen co-op no online.

The Digital foundry article from Jan on Wii U power is mind bending. They say the case is so small so it must be a cool console and not have high power which = high heat and a bigger case. They say it wont even be 2X 360 power and 'Wii U has a ballpark performance level with current PS3 and Xbox 360 titles, perhaps actually lower'.

I don't really understand how they can say that from everything else we have heard it should bare minimum be 20% powerful than PS3 which according to IGN is twice as powerful as 360. All the devs at E3 last year said it was more powerful than current gen platforms so I don't know what DF is on about. They are acting like it's impossible for chips to be miniturised.

We know that nintendo is rolling out dev kits version 5. Then the darksiders 2 interview says that they have been hampered 'by Nintendo's progress' i.e the dev kits are still changing. And that the console is 'on par' with other consoles and they are not doing anything to increase the polycount etc for the Wii U version. Ouch, bad news.

The problem is that Nvidia's Keplar is out right now and that it can run Samaritan and that a variant might be used for the next consoles of Sony and MS - according to DF. Purely by launching a year later, those companies can take advantage of this tech, whereas Nintendo can't very well delay Wii U to wait on a smaller cheaper Keplar.

You could end up with PS4 and Nextbox running UE4 and Wii U stuck with UE3.6-ish.

So, Epic Mickey 2 is coming to the Wii this fall, but not Wii U? Seems dumb. I mean, it should come to Wii and Wii U.

Ugh, watching the GTTV Epic Mickey 2 interview, Spector is really cagey about how the paint mechanic will work on 360 with a normal gamepad. He says we have triggers for thinner and paint but doesn't mention how you actually aim.

Argh, I've been reading some mixed fan reviews of The Hunger Games movie. Some like it, but others hate it. The shaky-cam action scenes seems to be the biggest complaint. IMO, Shaky-cam should die. I'm still going to see it, but I think I'll skip the IMAX showing. Gigantic IMAX screen and shaky-cam DO NOT mix! Sad

There is no cursor on the 360 footage they showed, it looks more like some autoaim, you just hit the button and mickey auto fires at whatever is closest.

That article just seemed like a typical Nintendo hate/ paint them in a bad light sort of thing. But one thing's for sure; The PC is going to leave all the new consoles in the dust anyway because none of them seem to be focusing on the Razor's Edge.

What's annoying is the wildly differing estimation of its power. At GDC a frence site, reported that UE4 was planned for Wii U, then some random dude said that Nintendo were tweaking the hardware to work with UE4. We know the RAM is going to be 3-4 times bigger than 360 and PS3.

What say you on the controls? That seems to be the one major gripe that all reviewers share, and then ultimately how much they dislike it is where the score ends up.

This is a translation:

A rumour moreover around the new generation! MSNerd (in general very quite well informed) affirms that two Xboxs will release in 2013.

The first Xbox Lite would be mainly based around Kinect and would have a price similar to l' Apple TV (100$) it would be called Xbox Loop (name which came in November via a rumour) It is already described like a smaller, less expensive thus and like known as highly concentrate around Kinect.

It would have architecture from ARM which would allow d' to have applications similar to what one could find on smartphones and obviously the catalogue kinect.

Then later in 2013 Xbox " Next" , the new generation of Xbox.

In spite of elements that MSNerd describes as blurry, this Xbox news would concentrate on playing core-gamers without forgetting all the functionalities multi-media qu' one knows with Xbox Live and Kinect. Once again, MSNerd does not think only next the Xbox is with the program has this E3.
