Just this week Sega has delayed Anarchy Reigns by a year, turned Valkyria Chronicles into a browser based card game, kicked my dog, and poured sugar in my gas tank.
You are a Sonic fan not a SEGA fan.
Take note all you arseholes that supported Valkyria Chronicles going handheld only. It's a slippery slope.
WTF is this, I am a huge Sega fan and by far the biggest one on this site.
It's just an observation. You don't seem that interested in the games they make these days. Thus the Sonic comment as that's pretty much all you've paid much attention to apart from Bayonetta. You started off very anti-Anarchy Reign for example and your positivity almost coincided with its delay giving you a good reason to bash SEGA.
That is Platinum games, not Sega. Sega doesnt make anything anymore it seems. I got VF5 so I am happy.
SEGA is not just a developer.
Sega the third party publisher is nothing to me. I love Sega the developer.
Then it all makes sense given that Sonic is the only game they make these days that you'd probably pay attention to. But it's not really a case of them not making anything anymore...well, now maybe that they've tried so very hard to bankrupt themselves.
They went from a company that made incredible games in every genre to just Sonic and Yakuza. They had Sonic, VF, Sega Rally, Nights, Ecco, Skies of Arcadia, Panzer Dragoon, PSO, Shenmue, 2K sports games, Virtua Tennis, HotD, Crazy Taxi, Jet Grind Radio, and that is just DC era. Where did they go.
Not true at all. Their output is definitely diminished, though. And yet half those games you listed certainly aren't incredible, and a good portion have had releases this gen.
Hell you've missed out quite a few of their "incredible" games from yesteryear if that standard applies to some of the games you've listed. A lot of games they've made this gen that aren't Sonic and Yakuza are far better recieved than some of the games on that list.
Aspro, did you read the Saints Row article you posted? Do you feel a bit better now?
It was a column more than an article (it contained "I think" from the author). You know what... I'd given up on games journalism years ago. I get it, they are members of the enthusiast press. They are no more journalists than those that review cars or cameras etc...
But what happened to actual writing, editing and the like? I know, I know, 1UP only has four people working there now, so I'll cut them a break, but mixing in editorial with what I assumed was an article/ interview is such a basic error.
Onto the substance of your question. Rubin is backtracking for PR, he is still likely embarrassed by the content of Saints Row 3 and wishes Volition were working on higher brow material, but they have to put out what pays. Seeing them turn around another SR is not really pleasing to me, like with all the other in-generation franchises three was enough SR for me.
I like SEGA as a publisher and developer. I get that they don't have the chops (or the money) to make many games themselves anymore, but a good publisher can act as a benefactor/ curator. Look at the work Atlus has done over the years in this regard.
I'm not sure who would be bringing Platinum's games to teh west if not for SEGA. I guess (hope) we'll find out. I don't think we'll see too many more coming our way.
Speaking of SEGA and Platinum... Holy Cow, I could not stop playing Vanquish this afternoon. I don't like it as much as Binary Domain, but it is AAA quality and has plenty of innovation. Mother F'n HARD as hell. I spent one hour and seventeen minutes on a boss about 30 minutes into the game. But for whatever reason I just stuck with it until it was taken down. If there are any of you out there that enjoyed Bulletstorm, I'd certainly suggest Vanquish to you.
Andriasang has PS2/ PS3 comparison shots of Okami up.
Cue GG saying he can't see the diference....
Except this time he is right
EU Nintendo Direct In a Few Hours
Nintendo Direct is coming soon - check back here on Friday June 22nd, from 5am BST.
5 am?
Seriously WTF? It's for the region and they are having it at 5am local time.
Don't you feel like it's good enough as it is? I was never even thinking about having more crowds whilst playing. Wouldn't that just make the game more annoying to play if there was more traffic and people? You would be stuck in traffic and bumping into people non stop.
That could easily be done IMO and I think you just gave Call of Duty an idea for a setpiece.
Yeah I cannot believe people defending the graphics on this game when it launched. That said I prefer it to Reach which I sold but I kept this one as it's more like Halo 1.
Yerli isn't trolling, he's guessing. For a start from what I've read from him before (9 months ago?) he was talking about second hand info from Crytek UK, Free Radical. Now it seems he's not that involved with programming Cryengine 3 for Wii U, the story says he is estimating or guessing. And he's saying bare minimum, it's as powerful as 360 so the obvious inference is that he's saying that the current machines are capable enough already, Wii U can do more, hence he does not see what the fuss is about. It's 3rd parties that are adapting Cryengine 3 for Wii U, not Crytek and he says "it runs beautifully."
But Okami Wii was still blurry!
Don't forget about Smartglass, biyatch. You will cave.
Hey, I didn't pan the screens before, I just find Okami to be excessively blurry with low res textures abound. So IMO even in HD it will never look HD super crisp.
Let me look at these comparison screens....
I can see the difference there because there is more colour and it's a bit crisper and in widescreen. I think if they compared it to Wii screens it would be harder to see the difference as it was already more colourful, crisper (yet still blurry as fuck) and it ran in widescreen too.
The screens from yesterday are better.
But like I said, the textures.... look at dat ground. In the end it doesn't matter how pretty the game looks because it's too long and ultimately boring. Edge agrees with me.
Something I've been thinking about this morning. I keep hearing about how the Japanese games development is stuck in a rut, not selling, suffering etc.
So why is it that it doesn't seem to affect Capcom and Nintendo when it comes to making appealing software?
