Just played Injustice for the past few hours and I am enjoying it greatly. I'm not great at MK and this plays like it about 75% of the time. But this is so delightfully over the top that I really don't care. My only real complaint is that they found a way to work QTE's into it.

Nintendo has revealed sales figures for two of the year’s biggest 3DS titles. To date, Fire Emblem Awakening has sold 240,000 copies in the United States (more than 80,000 of which were purchased digitally through the 3DS eShop) and Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon has sold 415,000 copies (the “bulk” of which were sold at retail).

Ouch.

No idea what Nintendo expected to sell on either game, but I figure anything selling under a million these days probably isn't doing well.

I'm sure they see that as pretty good. I recall reading somewhere when the last FE game sold 300K in the US and that set a record for the series.

That is huge for FE. Luigi did amazing for like two weeks. It should be near the top of the NPD list for individual SKU at that number.

I played the Soul Sacrifice demo for a good two hours, pretty cool game. The structure of the game is interesting as you are reading a book (that talks to you) and the chapters of the book are your missions. As you select a mission you can also read up on lore which is like your enemy database. There is tons of backstory, all told in an old fable like way, really cool art style as well.

The missions are all arena based combat, usually you have to elminate certain monsters. So you enter an area which is large enough to run around and hide but its just one screen in size, nothing massive. You choose what attacks to have, up to six, these are spells which have a limited number of uses per mission. You can put strong attacks but they can only be used twice. Weaker ones can be used many more times. Scattered around the world you can find objects to replentish magic or absorb fallen enemies for spells or health.

Combat is cool as what spells you choose change how you battle. You can be a specialist at ranged attacks. You can be more in your face super moves kind of guy. You can put defensive spells to be more smart about combat. The action is fast and fluid, far quicker than something like Monster Hunter. As the game opens up you gain allies which are AI partners that help you out, these can become online friends as well. As the missions get harder the monsters become huge epic battles to take them down. Those familiar with MH kind of know the drill.

I was hoping for a game with a large world to explore so I am saddend to see its all missions to small areas. And it seems like the entire game is just combat against enemies. The presentation and story is really well done though and I find the action to be more compelling than MH.

Seems like a quality Vita game but I am not sure these kinds of games are for me.

Man it might be possible I dont buy a newly released Wii U game until Aug. 4th. And I dont even want to get Pikmin 3 day one.... Where is Wonderful 101??? Sad

I understand Nintendo does these ebbs and flows with their releases but NEVER have they had a console launch with practically nothing from them. It really feels like this console was not ready to come out yet.

You should get Lego City, it's a great game with tons of hours of fun to be played. NFS Most Wanted is really good too, the other Criterion devs in the threads say it's the best version. It's open world with lots of secrets and freedom but also structured racing too.

Why no Pikmin 3?

Let me quote my earlier post before it was buried by the N.Direct:

gamingeek said:

Nintendo direct in 15 minutes from now.

Played tons more Lego City Undercover, really fun game. I get sidetracked on the way to objectives because there is so much stuff to see. The buildings have free running set ups and you can scan and see a super brick and then spend time working out how to get to it by scaling pipes, entering secret gates, building certain objects, blowing stuff up. All so consuming.

So much to collect as well, if you are obsessive about that sort of thing this game will be your dream come true. The game is littered with a kajillion studs and bricks to collect, tokens for cars and costumes.

I've opened up a lot of the city now, in addition to the San Francisco winding road and Chinatown they have New York Times Square and Los Angeles countryside area like in San Andreas. I just got to Little Italy which has the leaning tower of lego and Venice canals too LOL

There is also a miami beachfront set up, in a nod to vice city. It's too much fun.

Sure the open world bits mostly look like an Xbox game (interiors a lot better) but it's hands down the most fun I've had in a game this year. I did some GTA style car chases, avoided the cops, beat up some geeks from a sci fi convention dressed up as iconic characters - went into a Goodfellas steadycam section and met My Cousin Vinny. I free ran up the side of the Lego store building, chased a Ninja across rooftops, did a jet boosted bike run across the main city and fished the sea for tyres.

Loving it.

I hope you guys were as agitated when Final Fantasy 13, 13-2, 14, God of War 4, Gears of War 4, Resident Evil 6, ORC, Monster Hunter 4, Lost Planet 3, Ace Attorney 5 (actually the 7th game in the series), Halo 4 (actually Halo 6), Assasins' Creed 6 (Black Flag), Dead Space 3, Crysis 3 FIFA, Madden 50 etc were announced.

EDIT: LOL Vader's response to Carnageheart pretty much nailed it:

Dvader said:

I got two Mario 3D platformers last gen, two in 6 years. How many 3D Zelda games came out last gen 2, 6 years apart. There were 6 AC games. 3 Uncharted games, 4 Gears, 6 CoD games, 3 resistances, 4 Halos all in the same time. Get out of here with this rehash garbage. Nintendo takes more time and effort to get their sequels to be brand new adventures in ways other companies dont even dare attempt.

Holy crap. Really? Are you seriously going to try to argue that every game that stars Mario is the same kind of game cause that is just stupid. Mario games, the ones that everyone considers Mario games is Super Mario, the platformer. Now there are two kinds of Mario platformers 3D ones and 2D ones, they are pretty damn different.

Are you guys forgetting Battalion Wars, Wii Sports Resort, Excitetruck, Excitebots. the Last Story, Xenoblade, Disaster Day of Crisis, Rhythm Heaven, Warioware revivals of Kid Icarus Pikmin Pilotwings and Luigi's Mansion, Wii Sports, Wii Fit, Nintendogs, Brain Training, Harmoknight, Pushmo, Advance Wars, Fire Emblem, Other M etc or that they are publishing and commisioned games like LEGO City, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2, SMT X Fire Emblem, Project X made by Monolithsoft and X. Endless Ocean 1 and 2 etc. You could even consider NSMB as a new franchise born in the DS era with it's retro styling (which I am sick of).
