From the latest Bink changelog:
http://www.radgametools.com/bnkhist.htm
It's interesting to see how this really old core still manages to surprise developers even after all those years.
It punches quite a bit above its weight, apparently. And this particular case isn't memory focused - the whole idea behind Bink is that it uses as little memory and bandwidth as possible, because Bink videos are typically used to hide load times. If you want quality and don't care about load times, you use h264 or something.
Bink 2, from what I understand, is very much a performance hog - and almost pure SIMD. It also doesn't scale beyond two cores, so the per-core performance is critical (and one Espresso core does nothing while decoding a Bink 2 video). Yes, any modern smartphone can decode Bink 2, but those have "proper" SIMD extensions. Espresso doesn't - and still manages to handle the format even at full HD.

It makes me less interested in the game. That's how bad it is.
Not that I've heard. I just hope they end up in a place that allows them to continue to do what they've been doing since the PS2 days.
Well, Eurogamer mentions that after a while repetition does start to kick in. I think it keeps you hooked by putting you under the stress of keeping your cubs well fed and out of harm. It's such a primative urge that I think that alone would be enough for many. Besides, with the rise of indie games, the notion that a game should take several hours to finish is further evaporating. I could see this as a game you play for 3 hours, see most of what it has to offer, and then only occasionally return to.
Dvader is 10 points off the average like Jeff fuckin' Girthmann.

Oh my....
Edge:
2014 so far for U is:
But like this year they'll announce more games between January and July 2014. Some of which will hit Q3/Q4 2014. But they need 3rd party support, this Christmas is crucial, publishers like Ubisoft are using Christmas sales as a barometer. So unless people want Wii U to bomb and for Nintendo to become irrelevant, people better pick one up this holiday or if you're an existing owner, buy multiplatform games on it.
These trailers... so awesome.
You're welcome
I refuse to play into the EA type blackmail of "everybody better buy whatever crap we release on a Nintendo console if you want us to even think about releasing anything decent otherwise we won't release any more games ever ... not even ports of FIFA and Madden".
If 3rd parties release Wii U games I deem worthy of buying and playing, I will do so. Same exact rules apply for Nintendo games. I hate being made to feel like I've got something to prove as a consumer. They are the ones who want me to pay my coin, they should be the ones who work for it.

Overrated. Meh combat, not that interesting of a world, story is just ok, and my version was glitchy. Good news is that Witcher 3 seems to be fixing every single complaint I have about 2.
The only thing I see that is glitchy is your opinion of this damn fine game.
Totally agree!
No way Xeno, Zelda, or Fire Emblem release outside of Japan next year. Quote me on this.
Am I the only person here who picked up Kingdom Hearts HD?
Sadly this blackmail you speak of is a financial reality. Suits in board rooms with white boards use figures as ammunition. All I'm saying is that if you own a Wii U and other systems, if possible buy the U version of a multiplat assuming it's a decent version. The other platform versions will sell regardless.
Xeno will. Zelda is not even a thing yet, I dont even know why its on that list. We would be lucky to get it by 2016.
I think Xeno has the least chance of releasing next year out of them all, because it will be the biggest game of them all.
Is there any chance of the embed video feature ever working correctly again?
I saw the other day that they are making a new Riddick game. Very happy...I liked the last one very much even though it wasn't as good as Butcher Bay.
I think Yoda said that it was a problem on Youtube's side. Make sure the embed has the http:// in front.
